The True Heiress: Legend Mode novel Chapter 290

In her mind, she was already cursing them out.

What a bunch of ungrateful backstabbers.

As the minutes ticked by, someone finally lost their patience and spoke up.

"Ms. Corrington, what's the meaning of calling us all here? Are you trying to stop us from leaving?"

"Yeah, is the company going to force us to stay against our will? We've always thought of you as a straightforward person. Surely you wouldn't hesitate on letting us go?"

"Exactly."

"Come on, LK is a massive company now. They wouldn't stoop to something so classless, right?"

The room erupted into chaotic chatter, noisy as a fish market.

Margie's head throbbed. She cut them off with a dark expression, her voice echoing loudly through the microphone on the table.

"I don't care if you leave or not. I just want to know if you had anything to do with the Talbot family's new products copying the details and concepts of our unreleased line."

Her words rang through every corner of the office.

The room instantly went dead silent.

But the silence only lasted a second before they all collectively went on the offensive.

"Ms. Corrington, that's completely uncalled for. We've been with LK for years. We watched it grow from nothing into what it is today. Even if we don't get credit for our achievements, you can't deny the blood and sweat we put in."

"Exactly. We poured our hearts and souls into this company. Now that we're burnt out and want to move on, you throw such a massive accusation at us? That's crossing a line."

"Your words really break the hearts of your most loyal employees, Ms. Corrington."

Some of them looked positively devastated, acting as though they couldn't fathom why Margie would do such a thing.

They played the role of the profoundly disappointed employee perfectly.

Margie could be ruthless at home and ruthless in public, but here at the company, she found herself struggling to lay down the law.

After all, this was just a suspicion; she had no hard evidence.

Now, facing this wave of aggressive pushback, she began to wonder if she'd been wrong.

One executive spoke up in an earnest, pleading tone. "Ms. Corrington, we understand where you're coming from. Given the timing of our resignations, it's natural for you to be suspicious. But we've worked for you for years. If we want to leave, there's no need to force us to stay."

"Right. There's no point in keeping us here against our will. If we stay, we won't exactly be putting our best foot forward. Wouldn't that just cause more harm than good for you in the long run?"

Margie was rendered speechless. So they were doing this for her own good, were they?

As Juno walked in, Margie instinctively stood up and offered her seat.

Margie simply moved to an empty chair nearby.

Juno walked straight to the head of the table and sat down.

The moment she took the seat, an intense, crushing aura settled over the room.

Morgan remained standing behind her like an immovable shield.

Their combined presence was staggering.

One was polite and restrained.

The other was arrogant and domineering.

They complemented each other perfectly.

It was a terrifyingly harmonious dynamic.

Juno casually picked up a pen lying on the desk, twirled it effortlessly through her fingers, and cut straight to the chase. "You're all adults here, so let's be honest. How much did the Talbot family pay to buy you out?"
