The True Heiress: Legend Mode novel Chapter 309

Miles stepped up and viciously kicked the official in the ribs. "You piece of trash! A thousand deaths wouldn't be enough for you!"

The official ignored Miles, locking eyes with Chuck. "Figures. The bastard son, doing nothing but plotting against his own bloodline."

Kian walked over and ground his heel directly into the official's face. "Give me the antidote."

His cheek smashed against the floor, the official spat blood and sneered, "I don't have it!"

Kian twisted his heel, fighting the overwhelming urge to stomp the man's skull into paste.

He stepped over the groaning official and threw himself at the open metal cases, frantically searching through the vials based on pure memory.

Thank God. It was there.

Tears blurred his vision as his fingers closed around the vial.

Moving with practiced efficiency, he prepped the syringe, dropped to Morgan's side, and pushed the antidote into his vein.

The relief was almost instantaneous. The violent tremors wracking Morgan's body began to subside.

Seeing that Morgan was stabilizing, Chuck finally tore his gaze away. "Beat him. But leave him breathing."

Juno would want to see him alive.

The mercenaries descended. It was a cold, brutal, utterly systematic beating. The sickening crunch of breaking bones echoed through the room until the official finally passed out from the pain.

For the mercenaries, it was entirely unfulfilling.

Beating a defenseless coward was no fun.

Two men hauled the unconscious official out by his arms.

With Kian supporting his weight, Morgan managed to get back on his feet. Kian, a grown man who had seen countless horrors in surgery, had red-rimmed eyes. "Come on. Let's go home."

Morgan fought through the lingering ache and spoke hoarsely. "Get me a clean change of clothes."

If they managed to slip back without LORD noticing, fine. But if she saw him like this, she would worry. And when she worried, her protective instincts would send her on a warpath, and she would end up hurting herself.

Having worked together for over a decade, Kian knew exactly how Morgan's mind worked. He knew what he was thinking.

He gave a curt nod. "I brought some. I'll help you change."
