After finishing the bowl of meat soup, Claire felt like she had come back to life!

She touched her stomach, then suddenly cried out.

“My babies! Where are my beastlings?!”

“They’re so small. They need their mother! Give them back to me, and I’ll do whatever you want!

Claire was starting to break down, too afraid to even imagine what might’ve happened to them.

Jeffrey, annoyed by the noise, shoved her aside with one hand.

Claire collapsed weakly against the edge of the bed and heard his heartless voice.

“Hmph. Them? I swallowed them. Twenty–five bird eggs. I figured they were that stupid bird’s beastlings. Not gonna lie, they tasted pretty good. A little small, though. They didn’t even get stuck in my teeth.”

Claire’s heart plummeted. Tears streamed down her face as all her strength drained away. She helplessly looked up at Jeffrey, wanting confirmation.

“Are you… are you serious?”

“Of course.”

“You ate them all?”

“Why would I lie to you? Female, this is just a small lesson! If you try to run again, I’ll go and kill every last one of your beastlings. I know exactly where they are.”

Jeffrey snorted. Seeing the despair in Claire’s eyes, a flicker of hesitation crossed his face. In the end, he forced himself to look away, unable to meet her gaze.

Claire clenched her fists and pounded against his chest. But after giving birth, she was so weak she barely had any strength left.

Jeffrey felt the barely–there punches and let her keep going. Then he said coldly, “No matter how crazy you act, those younglings aren’t coming back. You’d better think about how to protect the ones you still have. You know I mean what I say.”

Claire kept crying and beating at him until her limp body slowly slid down to the ground.

She blamed herself. If only she had escaped that hellhole sooner, her children wouldn’t have died so early.

If she had pushed a little harder during labor and stayed conscious, maybe she could’ve saved them from Jeffrey’s mouth!
