Claire fell directly into Zane’s cool yet affectionate embrace.

Caught completely off guard, Rufus tumbled to the ground. Fortunately, the forest floor was covered with leaves rather than snow, so his hide clothing did not get dirty.

“You finally came!”

Zane’s chest rumbled with laughter.

At last, he was holding his own female in his arms instead of protecting and caring for her through someone else.

Rufus immediately added from the side, “Claire, do you know how long we’ve been looking for you?”

Claire looked from one to the other.

“You’ve both lost weight.”

Their faces were thinner, their eyes carried signs of exhaustion, and even faint stubble had appeared along their jaws.

Rufus let out an exclamation.

“You noticed that? I even made a special effort to clean myself up. Look at my feathers. Aren’t they smoother now?”

After all, while he had been roaming everywhere looking for Claire, finding her was the only thing on his mind. He had hardly paid any attention to his appearance.
