Chapter 221 The Road to Uverplain

When the time came, beastfolk from every race in the Beast World would gather from all over the place would be packed and full of life.

And there would definitely be handsome guys everywhere. Just thinking about being surrounded good-looking beastfolk made Claire’s heart race with excitement.

She nodded right away.

“I’m going! I want to attend the Wildclaws Festival!”

Then she looked at Zane and spoke in a spoiled, pleading tone. “Let’s go, okay?”

She had never seen anything that big before. There was no way she could miss it.

Even if she had to cross fire and danger to get there, she still wanted to see it.

Of course, she would never admit she mainly wanted to look at handsome guys.

Nope. She was just going to “broaden her horizons.”

Naturally, Zane agreed without hesitation. He reached over and fixed the feather behind her head.

“Relax. The festival is three months away. We can go to the eagle clan first, like you wanted, before ma our way to Uverplain. I’ve never been there before, though, so I don’t know the route.”

He also had no idea how far away it was or how dangerous the trip might be.

But even if it was dangerous, he would still risk everything to help Claire achieve her dream.

What he didn’t realize was that behind Claire’s innocent face, her head was already full of very distracti thoughts, and all she could think about now were handsome, muscular men.

Marcus and Rufus frowned too and shook their heads.

“I’ve never been to Uverplain either.”

Claire sighed and rested her chin on one hand while thinking hard.

She really wished the Beast World had maps like the modern world.

Seeing the worry on her face, Zane quickly tried to reassure her.

“Let’s head to the eagle clan and ask around there.”

The eagle clan was a large clan with many beastfolk. Someone there would probably know something.

Clare nodded. That was their only option for now.

After packing their ding the group finally set off toward the eagle clan.

Marcus was the largest. Standing upright, he was nearly as tall as a three-story building. His fluffy bl white fur made him look huge and round. He lowered his head and sniffed Claire’s scent. Her sweet still carried traces of that bird guy’s scent, which made him unsure whether he wanted to smell mør

“Claire, it was the first time we didn’t sleep while holding each other. I barely slept at all last night. W don’t you ride on my back? My back is the widest. You can lie down however you want.”

His voice sounded both cute and pitiful as he nudged her gently with his giant panda head.

Rufus quickly cut in.

“You didn’t sleep well and still want to carry Claire? What if she falls off? Claire, ignore him. Ride on back! I fly fast and can see far away. Summer just started too, so flying through the wind will feel cool

Claire rubbed her chin and nodded repeatedly. He had a point. Winter had only ended yesterday, and was already the first day of spring. By noon, it would definitely get hot.

Still, Marcus looked pretty miserable standing there drawing circles on the ground with his paw.

Zane noticed her hesitation. He let out a quiet sigh and pushed down the jealousy in his chest before stepping closer.

“Marcus has to carry the younglings. Let Rufus take you instead. What do you think, Claire?”

Rufus immediately looked at Zane with gratitude. His earlier speech hadn’t been wasted after all.

Claire glanced at the younglings. She could put them in the storage space, but keeping them trapped in there too long might affect their growth.

“Okay! Then I’ll leave it to you guys!”

Claire wrapped her arms around Zane’s neck. His snow-white fur was soft and fluffy, and she could smell fresh soap-like scent coming from him.

Looks like Zane had washed up last night.

“Thanks, Zane. You’re always so thoughtful,” Claire whispered softly. “You can sleep beside me tonight.”

She couldn’t play favorites, after all.

Claire grinned from ear to ear. She was the queen of fairness.

Marcus still looked unhappy, but he obediently nodded anyway.

And just like that, the group began their journey.

The handsome white wolf walked in frem, scouting the path and keeping watch around them

The giant panda followed behind with the younglings raling on his back. He even canned the two

augliest ones in his mouth leaving him unable to talk to Claire

Rufus transformed into a gyrfalcon and let Claire sit between his wings as he carried her in low flight through the air.

None of them were slow. Before long, Grimstone disappeared completely from view.

Claire turned back for one last look in its direction. The place where Marcus had grown up was now g from sight.

She wondered if they would ever return to Grimstone someday. She had promised Marcus she would back with him one day, but that depended on whether he wanted to return and whether the timing wa right.

That place held Marcus’s childhood memories, both happy and painful. It really was a place people co both love and hate.

Claire turned back around, completely missing the burning gaze watching her.

At the top of a giant tree less than fifty feet away, a brown serpent silently stared at her.
