The Ultimate Litter. A Beast World System Tale

Chapter 271 The Cure for Zane Six

There was no time for Claire to think it over. She quickly said, “I’m here to ask if you have any gotu kola and rebloom flower.”

Corvin looked puzzled.

“Oh? Gotu kola and rebloom flower? You don’t look sick. You’re perfectly healthy. Are those herbs for someone else?”

Kieran answered right away, “Yes. Claire just checked on Zane Six, and wanted to see if you had those two herbs.”

A look of understanding washed over Corvin’s face.

“Ah, Zane Six. I took a look at him before and tried a few remedies, but nothing worked. Claire, do you know medicine?”

His probing tone made Claire a little suspicious, but she answered honestly, “I know a little. Zane Six has been poisoned. I heard about this poison once from the healer who taught me. Do you have those two herbs?”

She pressed him again. She didn’t want to waste any more time here. If Corvin didn’t have them, she’d have to search outside the clan.

Every second they delayed meant another second Zane Six had to suffer.

Corvin thought for a moment, then walked over to a wooden shelf and searched through his supplies.

“I think I have both. Hmm, I have one gotu kola plant left. As for rebloom flower, there are only a few petals left. I don’t know if that’ll be enough.”

He opened his palm in front of Claire, revealing a few yellowish petals and a dried herb.

Claire’s eyes lit up with relief, and she nodded quickly.

“That’s enough! Thank you so much! Once I’m settled, I’ll bring you some beast meat.”

Corvin waved his hand dismissively.

Claire and Kieran quickly left Corvin’s tree house.

Corvin stood by his small window, leaning his elbow on the sill as he watched Claire’s retreating figure with interest.

“Claire,” he murmured to himself. “Not bad…”

Finishes

Not long after, Claire returned to Zane Six’s tree house.

She carried a bowl of dark herbal medicine that gave off a strong, bitter smell.

“Here, Six. Drink this. You’ll be okay soon.”

Zane held Zane Six in his arms and lifted his head.

Claire carefully poured the medicine into his mouth. The dark liquid slid right down his throat, and the bowl was empty in no time.

Once he finished, Zane Six let out a small burp, but his eyes remained closed.

Claire waited anxiously for a while before feeling his forehead. The fever was gone, and his body had stopped trembling. He was sleeping peacefully.

“He should be fine now!”

Claire let out a long sigh of relief.

Zane laid Zane Six back down, then wrapped his arms around Claire. He was still shaken.

“Thank goodness you were here, Claire. It’s my fault. I didn’t watch our youngling properly.”

“How is this your fault? If anyone’s to blame, it’s Jeffrey. If he hadn’t kidnapped me, we wouldn’t have been separated from the younglings, and Six wouldn’t have been poisoned.”

Claire paused, a sharp glint flashing in her eyes.

She said slowly, “It looks like someone in the eagle clan is trying to harm our younglings.”

“Yeah, I’ll find out who it is.”

Zane held Claire and jumped down from the tree house, landing lightly on the ground.

On the wide grassy field, the two groups of younglings-despite their difference in size-had completely warmed up to each other and were having the time of their lives playing together.

The older younglings adored the little ones and looked after them in every way. They treated the little ones they had personally chosen like the apple of their eye, watching over them like hawks to make sure they didn’t trip or fall.

The younger younglings couldn’t talk, so they couldn’t express what they wanted, but their excited baby squeals said it all. Miraculously, the older younglings seemed to understand exactly what they meant.

Claire couldn’t have been more relieved!

She had been worried they wouldn’t get along, but it turned out she’d worried for nothing!

Maybe this was what blood ties were all about!

Just then, a moose came charging toward them.

Marcus, who had been sleeping, snapped his eyes open and cried out, “Watch out, Claire!

He threw his massive body in front of Claire, his eyes locked onto the approaching moose.

As the moose rushed closer, a slender arm suddenly reached up between its antlers.

A voice called out, “Claire, it’s me! Tyne!”

Tyne?

Claire blinked in surprise. She peeked out from behind Marcus’s butt and looked up at the small face on the moose.

Seeing that same delicate face from her memory, Claire happily ran forward to catch Tyne as she jumped down from the moose’s back.

“Tyne, it really is you! This is wonderful. You’ve gained a little weight since we were in the fox clan!” Claire said with a smile.

Tyne blushed and pinched the flesh at his waist before glancing at the moose beside him.

“It’s all thanks to Kaleb. He joined the hunting team and brings back lots of beast meat for me every day. Oh, by the way, Claire, I have something really important to tell you.”

Tyne’s expression suddenly turned dead serious. She glanced around to make sure no one was listening, then pulled Claire close and whispered in her ear. “I know who poisoned your youngling, Six!”

At those words, Claire’s heart leaped into her throat. She asked urgently. “Who?”
