Claire took a closer look, and her face lit up.

The beastfolk standing in the middle looked up the moment he heard her voice.

His face broke into a wide grin as he waved.

“Claire! I brought the evening primrose!”

A large fur pouch hung from his back, stuffed so full it bulged.

Claire hurried over and welcomed him inside.

Quentin and the guards immediately understood and stepped aside.

Claire led Garen toward her treehouse.

Along the way, Garen excitedly told her everything that had happened since she left.

A little while later, they arrived beneath Claire’s treehouse.

hide his admiration. He stared up at the treehouses high in the branches, taking in every detail.

Claire took the fur pouch he had brought and carefully pulled out a bundle of evening primrose.

The flowers were fresh. It was obvious they had been picked only a short time ago.

She counted them.

There were 20 plants.

“So many! Garen, you really didn’t have to bring this much. I only need one or two plants. That’s more than enough. You should take the rest back and trade them with another clan.”
