Claire scolded him lightly, “You’re really kind of dumb. Why didn’t you just sit down and wait? Standing there the whole time must’ve been exhausting.”

Davy scratched his head. “Uh… I forgot.”

A rich, sweet aroma filled the air.

She peeled a sweet potato and handed it to Davy, who was practically drooling.

Davy had already been starving. He grabbed it and devoured it, swallowing it in just a few bites.

Embarrassed, he scratched his head and copied Claire, patting the ash off a roasted potato.

“Huh? This looks a lot like the ground fruit I grow!”

Claire asked curiously, and Davy pointed in a direction. “At the beginning of the warm season, I buried some of these in the open space over there. I found them by accident and called them ground fruit. They look really similar to this, just not as tasty!”

He took a bite of the hot potato and continued, “So this is supposed to be roasted before eating. I always ate

them raw.”

Claire was stunned.

“This is called a potato.”

Rogue beastfolk growing potatoes was one thing, but liking them this much?

“Aren’t you supposed to eat meat?”

Snakes were carnivores, right?

She had never heard of a herbivorous rogue beastfolk.

Davy fidgeted and scratched his head, looking guilty. “I…I don’t like meat. I just like potatoes.”

Seeing Claire’s doubtful expression, Davy straightened his neck and stood up. “If you don’t believe me, I’ll show you.

He grabbed Claire’s wrist and led her straight toward the rocks on the other side of the hot spring.

After going around the rocks, a cave appeared in the cliff.

Chapter 89 A Debt of Potatoes

It was called small, but only compared to a massive titan python. The cave was about six feet wide, eight feet- talk, and 30 feet deep. Inside, it was piled high with sweet potatoes and potatoes of varying quality. Some still had dirt on them, and some had already started sprouting.

“You usually just eat these?”

Claire pointed inside the cave.

Davy nodded honestly, “Yeah. But they don’t really fill me up. No matter how much I eat, I still don’t feel full.”

“You’ve never eaten meat?”

A vegetarian titan python?

Davy lowered his head. “Well… sometimes I do. It’s just that I don’t like eating meat, like other rogue beastfolk. I only hunt when I’m really starving.”

Claire understood.

Davy wanted to change himself and hated his carnivorous nature, but eating only potatoes and sweet potatoes couldn’t fill him up, so he hunted occasionally.

“Then the place where you planted the potatoes and sweet potatoes, is there a really tall tree nearby?”

Claire remembered the scene when she had first found them.
