The Ultimate Reborn Heiress (Scarlett) novel Chapter 18

Chapter 18 Shameless

When she clocked off at one, Scarlett headed to the market and bought a good haul of vegetables, meat, and fish.

The production team wasn’t completely heartless—at least, the kitchen was stocked with rice, flour, and basic seasonings.

Even if they were totally broke, they could still boil plain noodles or eat plain white rice.

When she got back to the house, the other guests were, unsurprisingly, all resting.

Nelson, Adam, and Selina had already discussed things and decided they’d pool their wages, act like a real team, and cook and eat together every day with groceries they bought themselves.

Nelson came from an old academic family. His mother was a teacher and had pushed him to be independent from a young age, so he actually knew how to cook.

The three of them had cooked lunch, but the taste was… average at best.

Zayden and Brianna, of course, weren’t about to wait for Scarlett to come back and discuss meal plans. They just nibbled on some bread Brianna had brought back from the bakery.

When Scarlett returned, she took over the kitchen and put a pot of rice on to steam.

Then, she made a crispy fried fish in a tangy glaze, a bowl of hot–and–sour soup, and garlic- sautéed greens.

Naturally, she secretly added a single drop of spiritual essence into the water she used for the rice and dishes.

She was never stingy with anything she cooked for herself.

“Oh–oh wow, that smells amazing.”

The three cameramen assigned to her could barely stop themselves from swallowing hard.

Around noon, they’d taken turns stuffing down a few crackers to line their stomachs, and now they were hungry again.

The other guests were holed up in their rooms.

Nelson, Adam, and Selina were chatting in the upstairs lounge.

They’d caught the smell while Scarlett was cooking, even though they’d already eaten.

But the aroma was just too tempting–nothing they’d eaten in their lives had smelled this good. They couldn’t take it and decided to head downstairs to take a look.

The viewers were a little stunned, too.

[She cooks so fast. It’s barely been half an hour, and she’s already done two dishes and a soup.]

[And it looks ridiculously good on camera.]

[I’m cracking up, I swear I just heard one of the cameramen gulp.]

[Now I’m starving. I want some too…]

[Heh. All this just to clean up her image–she even leveled up her cooking skills.]

The passive–aggressive haters were back at it.

Scarlett carried the dishes out to the common room, ready to dig in.

Seeing the cameramen swallowing hard, she smiled. “I left some food for you in the kitchen. Please go eat.”

She hadn’t left much–just enough for each of them to have a serving, and only one plate of rice apiece.

Such a good kidpretty, hardworking, and genuinely kind.

Zayden knew she hadn’t eaten much today. She had to be starving.
