Chapter 187 A Lucky Encounter?
Quentin had been on leave lately.
When he saw the video his little sister sent him, she’d written, “Quentin, what do you think of this cultivation method? Does it look like she’s already cultivated inner strength?”
Quentin watched it and replied almost immediately. “This cultivation method looks… kind of strange. I ried copying it, barely managed two moves–and I felt awful right after.
As for inner strength, I can’t tell from this. But someone that young? Cultivating inner strength takes more han talent. It takes years. So, it’s basically impossible.”
nner strength, at the end of the day, was inner power.
And he knew exactly how hard it was to cultivate.
Quentin had never seen anyone truly pull it off.
Even their grandpa only had a tiny bit.
And their grandpa was already considered a once–in–a–generation genius in the martial arts world.
Tina threw up an OK sign.
Then, she ran back to the livestream and replied to the viewers.
BigKidCalls Doggo: Didn’t ask my grandpa–he’s in seclusion right now and won’t answer anyone. I asked ny brother instead.
He said an eighteen–year–old cultivating inner strength is pure fantasy. Actually … there probably aren’t ven many people in this world who can cultivate it at all.]
Exactly. Inner strength is inner power–basically movie stuff, isn’t it?]
The livestream chat went wild again.
After Scarlett finished a full round of her cultivation method, she led the other guests down to the lake to haul up the wicker fish traps.
One night was enough to bring in a solid catch.
Plenty of small fish–around half a pound each. Three bigger ones too, each about two pounds.
There were also lots of tiny fish and shrimp mixed in.
Scarlett picked some wild greens out in the open fields, then cooked a pot of chowder with the greens for breakfast and pan–fried the little fish and shrimp on the side.
All in all, it felt… calm. Almost leisurely.
After breakfast, Scarlett taught Ena more training, then started teaching her pressure point recognition.

She only taught Ena five pressure points across the whole body.
There are hundreds of pressure points in the human body, so there was no way to teach them all in just a few days.
Five was enough, as long as she memorized them precisely.
And these five, when struck, wouldn’t cause serious harm.
They’d just make a body go numb and weak for a while–unable to generate force.
That was all Ena needed.
So, for the rest of the day, besides practicing the boxing set, Ena’s main job was drilling those five points until they were instinct.
And it wasn’t just Scarlett and Ena sparring.
Selina, Nelson, Adam- even Simon came over to be practice targets, letting Ena test the five pressure points on them so she could lock in the locations.
For the entire day, the five guests lived off whatever the traps pulled up–fish and shrimp, again and again.
Scarlett didn’t go hunting in the mountains.
She planned to go tomorrow instead.
Only Hazel, Brianna, and Zayden didn’t get any of it.
They were still chewing through yesterday’s cucumbers and tomatoes.
After so many meals of just watery vegetables, they were dizzy with hunger and physically weak.
Hazel decided to go out again–hoping her “luck” would show up one more time.
This time, no fish magically jumped at her feet.
So, she wandered around the town instead.
That was when she spotted a woman working in the fields. Hazel hesitated, then walked over and spoke to the middle–aged woman. “Ma’am, is there anywhere in town hiring for work?
“I’m filming a show here. The crew’s right behind me–please don’t be scared. We don’t mean any harm. We just want to find some work for a few days while we’re here.”
Hazel had learned from Ena that some people in the town could speak Dragorian, so she figured it was worth trying.
The woman looked up at her.
“You… you’re that Hazel Bailey?” she asked.

She really could speak Dragorian–halting, but clear enough.
Hazel’s eyes lit up. “Yes! Yes, that’s me. Ma’am, you know me? And you can speak Dragorian–thank goodness.”
The woman’s gaze drifted over Hazel’s pale, delicate face.
