The Ultimate Reborn Heiress (Scarlett) novel Chapter 192

Chapter 192 A Rock and a Hard Place

Walsh lay flat on the ground, unable to move for a long while.

The surrounding townsfolk stared blankly at the father and daughter.

What just happened?

Before either the townsfolk or Walsh could react, Ena had already sprinted after Scarlett, chasing toward Robert’s house.

The livestream exploded.

[WhoaEna’s fighting skills are actually legit!]

[That’s right! Fight back!]

[So, Scarlett’s really going after them? What’s the point? Isn’t she just tagging along?]

[Don’t forget Scarlett seems to know medicine, too. Last week, she diagnosed that granny’s tumor just by observation. But these are labor complications. Even if she knows that, can she actually do anything?]

[She probably knows traditional medicinelearned from her grandfather or something. Diagnosis is one thing. Actually delivering a baby? Prescribing? Needle therapy? I doubt it. Following them won’t help.]

Seeing Scarlett already running ahead, the guests and crew had no choice but to follow.

The townsfolk hauled Walsh to his feet and began trailing after them as well.

His limbs were still numb, but watching his daughter disappear into the distance filled him with fury.

Scarlett reached the house quickly..

It was a brickandtile house, one of the nicer ones in the town.

The moment she stepped into the courtyard, she heard it. A woman’s anguished screams, sharp and ragged, layered with the frantic voices of others.

The midwife was there, barking orders to the family to boil water and prep whatever they could.

Dorian rushed inside, so panicked he didn’t even notice Scarlett following him.

Carina lay in the center of the room on a pallet laid over the floor. Her skirt was soaked through with blood.

Dorian collapsed beside her, legs buckling, tears streaming down his face.

Carina Carina, are you okay? God, please please be okay

Carina’s face was ashen with pain. She looked at her husband, tears spilling silently down her temples.

This wasn’t her first childbirth. She had already delivered two children.

Finished

She could feel itsomething was terribly wrong. Between the fall and the hemorrhage, she knew the baby was in the wrong position. She felt her life slipping away.

The midwife shouted, Dorian! Get to the kitchen and bring hot water! Get more towels! She won’t stop bleeding! What are we going to do?

Dorian scrambled up, nearly tripping over his own feet as he rushed toward the kitchen, passing right by Scarlett without seeing her.

While he was gone, the midwife moved Carina’s skirt to check the progress.

As she felt for the baby’s position, her face turned ashen.

Robert finally made it home, panting as he reached the courtyard. Seeing his daughterinlaw in labor inside, he didn’t dare enter, standing outside in a state of helpless anxiety.

Dorian returned with a basin of steaming water and a pile of blankets.

The midwife looked at Dorian, despair written all over her face. It’s over. The baby’s not positioned right. She fell, she’s bleeding heavilythis is a serious complication. Even God can’t save her now.

Dorian’s face turned corpsewhite.

He knew exactly what that meant.

He was about to cry when he suddenly noticed

someone next to him. He turned and saw Scarlett.

He realized that this was the girl who had predicted this exact disaster at the school.

Dorian’s grief turned into explosive rage. He glared at Scarlett, his eyes bloodshot. You! It was you, wasn’t. it? You cursed Carina! You wished this on her, made her fall, made her suffer like this!

Are you out of your mind?Scarlett didn’t play along. She smacked the back of his head. Ask your wife how she fell. What does that have to do with me? I’m here to help her, you idiot.

The slap left Dorian stunned.

His head buzzed as he stared at Scarlett, his lips trembling, unable to find words.

Carina spoke with great difficulty from the floor. Do Dorian don’t blame her. It was me. I went into the kitchenslipped on some oil. My own fault.”
