Dorian sobbed, “Save Carina–of course, save Carina. Ma’am, please… please save her.

Scarlett glanced at him.

At least, he had some loyalty in him–otherwise Ena’s father wouldn’t have been able to sweet–talk him into going to the school to help snatch them.

Outside, things started boiling over, too.

The townsfolk from earlier showed up, along with the other guests and the crew, crowding into the courtyard.

Robert swept his eyes over the crowd and didn’t even bother to shoo them away. All he could hear was his daughter–in–law’s screams and his son’s sobbing from inside, and worry gnawed at him.

Selina listened to the cries from the room and whispered anxiously to Nelson and the others beside her. “No one knows what’s happening in there. If it’s complications… Scarlett should be able to save her, right?”

Nelson and the others had no idea how good Scarlett’s medical skills really were, so none of them answered.

Their eyes were glued to the doorway, their minds racing.

The crew didn’t dare go into the room to film. They stayed at the edge of the courtyard, shooting from a distance.

The livestream viewers were practically losing their minds.

A midwife was working. The mother was in distress. No one in the crew dared cross that line.

They were nervous even standing outside, afraid the townsfolk might turn on them.

He heard her this time–and disbelief flooded his face.

“You’re just a kid! What are you doing here? Get out. Now.”

“You really want me gone?” Scarlett glanced at Carina. “She just told you–save the mother, and both die. Save the baby, and your wife suffers. They’ll cut her open alive, or tear her apart.

“Either way, she won’t survive. Is that what you want?”

His lips trembled. He couldn’t answer.

Finally, he whispered, “You really can save them?”

“Of course.” Scarlett almost sighed.

She might look young, but she had been practicing for years.

Not that she could reveal that here.

The women who had just entered protested immediately. “Dorian, are you insane? Letting a girl handle this? Let the midwife save the baby–that’s the only chance!

“If she messes up and you lose both, what then? What if it’s a son?”

Dorian roared, “I’m saving Carina!”

The women clicked their tongues.

“Why bother? He can remarry.”

Scarlett’s gaze turned sharp. “Then, why don’t you die first, so your husbands can remarry?”

“You little-! Do you have any manners?”

They surged forward, furious.

Scarlett’s voice turned cold. “What? I’m only copying you. Doesn’t it sound lovely?”

They looked ready to slap her.
