Chapter 194 The Master of Needles
[That’s disgusting. Aren’t they women, too? How can they say something like that?)
[Didn’t expect the mayor’s son to be decent. Grew up here and still knows how to protect his wife.]
[I’m more focused on Scarlett. She said she can save the mother?]
Ena listened as the women outside kept talking.
Then, she suddenly laughed.
“Selina, they’re saying Scarlett told them to hurry up and die so their husbands could remarry.”
Selina burst out laughing.
Of course. That was Scarlett.
[Ha! That’s our Scarlett.]
[Now, I really want to know what’s happening inside. Scarlett can definitely save them. How is she going to do it, though?]
[How? She’s hemorrhaging, and it’s complications. Didn’t they say the baby’s positioned wrong? How do you fix that?]
[I’m a gynecologist, too. I honestly want to see how she handles this. In a hospital, it’d be an emergency C- section–barely a chance.]
Inside the house.
Scarlett had already stepped forward to examine Carina.
Carina’s face was pale as paper, sweat soaking her hairline.
Scarlett told Dorian to bring warm water. She slipped two drops of spiritual essence into it before helped Carina drink.
Carina was almost out of strength. She’d need everything she had left to deliver.
Dorian hovered nervously. “What–what else should I do?”
Scarlett said calmly, “Cook something. She’ll need energy.”
He glanced down, panic flaring at the blood.
Scarlett shot him a sharp look. “Go.”
He stumbled up and ran for the kitchen.
In the kitchen, Dorian’s mother’s eyes were swollen red. She blamed herself for the fall.

Finished
When her son told her someone could save Carina, she wiped her eyes and immediately began cooking. hoping her daughter–in–law would have the strength to eat.
Inside.
Only Scarlett, the midwife, and the laboring mother remained.
Scarlett pulled out a soft leather pouch. Inside was a full set of fine needles.
She never traveled without her tools. Even on flights, she shipped them ahead.
One by one, she inserted the needles along Carina’s lower back and abdomen.
Her hands moved with startling precision.
The midwife stared, unblinking.
She knew what this was–needle therapy.
But how old was this girl?
And she was this skilled?
Carina was beyond pain now, barely aware of anything.
Then warmth spread through her abdomen. The pain dulled. Her groans softened.
The midwife gasped. “It’s stopping–the bleeding is stopping!”
Dorian rushed in. He saw the needles along her waist and lower body–and the blood had nearly stopped.
Scarlett leaned close and spoke gently in Drerea. “Next, I’ll reposition the baby. After that, you’ll deliver on your own.”
Carina nodded weakly. She believed her.
By now, the room was filling up again.
The women Dorian had chased out had snuck back in, followed by his mother carrying a plate of food.
Other women from the town crowded the doorway to watch.
Normally, imen weren’t allowed in during childbirth.
This time, no one dared to mouth off.
They stared at the floor beneath Carina. The bleeding had truly stopped.
Scarlett placed both hands on Carina’s belly.
Her palms moved slowly, steadily.
The motion was gentle, deliberate–threaded with a thin current of spiritual energy.
