Chapter 203 Ghost Marriage
The woman let out a cold laugh and slammed the door shut with a bang.
Michael was left stunned by the abrupt slam of the door.
The livestream exploded.
[Holy crap, is something really happening? She clearly doesn’t want to let Hazel leave.]
[She was all smiles chatting with Hazel inside, and now she’s acting like this to everyone else? That’s terrifying.]
Didn’t she say she had a son? And that he really liked Hazel? D–don’t tell me she wants to force Hazel to marry him?]
I check Hazel’s stream all the time. I’ve never even seen the son. Just the woman, her husband, and a little girl who looks five or six. The girl’s shy and stays in her room most of the time.]
Maybe the son is in college and not home? But it’s summer break. Wouldn’t he be back? Or is he working 1 summer job in the city?]
Michael stepped forward and knocked again, loud and firm.
No response from inside.
He didn’t even consider turning around to ask Scarlett for help.
When he found out Hazel wanted to join the show, he had guessed she was trying to mess with Scarlett.
He had intended to help Scarlett out by choosing the most remote, inconvenient filming location possible.
But he hadn’t expected that once Hazel came, she might not be able to leave.
That was absolutely unacceptable. He had to take her back.
However, he also knew Scarlett wouldn’t intervene.
He could only figure it out himself.
Miles away, Leona’s face had gone ashen.
How dare that rural woman set her sights on her daughter? How dare she think Hazel would marry her son?
Leona wanted to tear that woman’s face apart.
Her thoughts weren’t much different from the livestream viewers
She was anxious, but there was nothing she could do from afar. She could only hope the production team rescued Hazel quickly.

Michael knocked for a long while.
Finally, he had to ask the mayor and Dorian for help.
Dorian patted Michael’s shoulder reassuringly.
“Don’t worry. I’ll help you.”
He strode forward and pounded on the door.
“Mrs. Darrow, open up! The show’s guests are leaving. Let her come out already!”
No response.
Dorian kept knocking, shouting in Dragorian for someone inside to open the door.
Two full minutes passed. No one came.

He turned helplessly to his father. “Dad, you try. What’s going on with Mrs. Darrow? She won’t open no matter how we call.”
The old mayor, Robert Lowen, nodded and stepped forward, knocking while speaking to the woman
inside in Drerea.
Dorian stood to the side, completely confused. He couldn’t understand what was wrong with her.
Michael hesitated, then asked quietly, “Dorian, does this family have a son?”
That was his guess too.
Could it be that Mrs. Darrow knew her son liked Hazel, so she refused to let Hazel leave?
Even if this was a town made mostly out of ethnic minorities, this was still a society governed by law.
Forcing someone into marriage was illegal.
Dorian blinked. “Ah, she did have a son. But he died in an accident a year ago.”
The moment those words fell, even Selina and the others–who had already heard some of this from Scarlett–felt the hairs on their arms stand up.
The rest of the staff, the director, and Brianna felt their scalps tingle.
The livestream audience was no different.
[W–wait, what? Did he just say her son died a year ago? Then why won’t she let Hazel leave? I thought she just had crazy ideas about marrying Hazel to her son ]
[When the mayor’s son said that, I swear the temperature around me dropped I’m freezing. That was terrifying.]
[I don’t get it. If her son’s already dead, why is she stopping Hazel from leaving?)

[Is it just me, or is there only one possibility here? Is she trying to arrange a ghost marriage for her dead son?]
[Stop it! This is modern society, okay? Let’s not go there!]
Leona’s face turned deathly pale.
