“What the hell just happened?”

“I have no idea. What is Scarlett even doing? It doesn’t look like anything weird is happening inside that place.”

“She looks so pitiful and fragile right now. I’m actually starting to feel bad for her.”

“No wonder she’s an actress. That pure innocent act is spot–on.”

Trying to leave?

The man inside the apartment watched her through the peephole, amusement curling at the corners of his mouth.

None of his prey had ever had eyes this beautiful.

Those eyes were perfect for his collection.

She was just a delivery girl, though–he didn’t know her background, didn’t know if anyone would notice if she vanished for a few days.

If he dragged her in now, he might not get to play with her for long.

One or two hours would have to do, then he’d end both of them and leave.

It was a little disappointing.

But he still decided to keep this prey.

It was rare to find something this exquisite.

He really, really loved those eyes.

The front door unlocked with a click.

Scarlett deliberately widened her eyes a little. “Sir, would you be willing to give me a five–star rating?”

The man smiled. “Come in and do it yourself on your phone.”

“What is even going on?”

Chapter 22 Cold–Blooded

“I’m so confused. Didn’t the crew already call the cops?”

“We didn’t see inside, but his voice sounds pretty normal. He doesn’t sound like a bad guy at

all.”

“What on earth is Scarlett trying to do?”

Down the hall, the three–person camera crew was sweating through their shirts.

They were already hiding in the stairwell, phones out, calling the police.

None of them dared show their faces. They had no idea what exactly was happening in that apartment, and no idea what, exactly, Scarlett had sensed.

Scarlett pretended to hesitate. “Sir, it’s really simple. You just open the order in the then tap

the rating-”

As she spoke, she pulled out her phone and moved as if to show him how.

Before the last word left her mouth, the man lunged forward, yanking her inside with a vicious tug. He didn’t give her a chance to react–his other hand came up fast, aiming to clamp over her nose and mouth.

His palm was smeared with a drug. If he covered her face, she’d be unconscious in under thirty seconds.

The live chat completely lost it.

Because the camera, hidden around the stairwell corner, was still pointed at the door, the viewers saw everything as the man dragged Scarlett inside.

“What the-?!”

“Oh my god, he really is up to something!”

“What is the production team doing? Why aren’t they rushing in to save her?!”

“Jesus, Jesus—so she really did sense something was wrong inside?! What’s going on in there?”

The chat was in a full–blown panic.

A couple of haters popped up. “This has to be scripted, right?”

The three staff members were shaking. They remembered what Scarlett had said: no matter what happened, they were not to rush over.

For a few seconds, none of them knew whether they should go against her instructions.

The man screamed.

Hearing his scream, the staff couldn’t hold back anymore. They rushed to the doorway with the camera rolling, and saw Scarlett standing just inside the apartment.

The man who had dragged her in moments ago now had both arms hanging bonelessly at his sides, clearly useless.

The livestream viewers saw the scene too.

“What… what is happening?”

“That was, what, ten seconds? And she already has him on the ground?”

“What the hell actually went down in there?”

The man glared at Scarlett.

When he noticed the three camera operators in the hallway, his expressi turned vicious.

He didn’t know exactly what this setup was, but cameras meant he had been recorded—and his face was fully exposed.

He had never imagined that just because he coveted one pair of beautiful eyes, he would end up misjudging so badly.
