Ivy was most likely inside that suitcase when the man carried it away.

Scarlett looked at Cody and Nathan.

Both of them still looked confused.

Cody asked again, “Ms. Sanchez, do you think there’s something wrong with them?”

Scarlett didn’t answer. She raised her hand, formed a seal, murmured a short incantation, and then tapped both men lightly on the center of their foreheads.

Cody and Nathan immediately felt something rush through their minds, like fog suddenly clearing away. Their thoughts snapped into sharp clarity.

Scarlett said, “Take another look at the man in the surveillance footage. What do you notice?”

The two of them looked back at the screen at the same time.

Cody was a criminal investigator by profession. Now that the man’s sigil energy wasn’t clouding his perception anymore, the anomaly jumped out immediately.

His brows furrowed. “That man is pushing a suitcase?”

When a child goes missing and the cameras show nothing suspicious, then anything that appears in the footage during that time becomes highly questionable.

Especially something as strange as that suitcase.

Cody turned to Scarlett. “Ms. Sanchez, we need to question the Johnsons‘ neighbor again and investigate the identity of that man.

“But earlier, she told us he was her relative. Could there be something strange about her too? Would you be willing to come with us? I’d really appreciate your help.”

When they had investigated earlier, nothing had seemed unusual.

They had simply questioned the neighbor.

Her facial expressions hadn’t shown any signs of lying.

So he had assumed she might’ve been slightly confused but still truthful.

And technically, she hadn’t lied.

Once she said the man was her relative, everyone had accepted it.

But they had also reviewed the footage from previous days. The man had indeed appeared in the building earlier, taking the elevator up to the 16th floor.

Over the past few days, he had been going in and out of the 16th floor repeatedly. Then last night, he left the elevator with the woman who lived next to the Johnson siblings.

Even with the influence of the sigil energy, basic logic still made them check earlier footage.

But now that the situation clearly involved occult forces, that wasn’t Cody’s area of expertise.
