Before Scarlett could speak, Cody said, “You were under a sigil. Ms. Sanchez removed the sigil energy affecting you, so now that it’s gone, those distorted memories are gone too.”
Kimberly murmured, “So someone really did cast a spell on me?”
She couldn’t believe that something so mysterious actually existed in the world.
Cody had already learned the full story from Kimberly and finished taking her statement.
Finally, he told her, “Don’t worry, Kimberly. We’ve already started investigating the man’s identity. We won’t wrongly accuse you. Your statement has been recorded, so we won’t take up any more of your time. If we need anything else later, we may come back to speak with you again.”
Kimberly nodded to show she understood, then glanced at Nathan.
She gathered her courage and stammered, “D–don’t worry. Your sister will definitely be found.”
Nathan looked at her and quietly said, “Thank you.”
Kimberly’s face immediately turned red.
That blush had nothing to do with romantic feelings.
Of course, there was a bit of admiration.
But mostly it was because the young man in front of her was so handsome that anyone could easily feel overwhelmed.
Now that they understood the situation from Kimberly, Cody brought Nathan and Scarlett back to the police station.
The two officers investigating the man’s identity hurried over.
“Mr. Grant, we’ve identified him.”
“The man is thirty–two years old. His name is Killian Jensen, originally from Rockridge City. He has no criminal record. A few years ago, he opened a small business locally, but it didn’t do very well. Two years ago, his wife ran off with someone else. After that, he stayed around town for a while, but neighbors often mocked him.
“Eventually, he stopped staying there. Over the past few years, he’s been drifting from place to place, living almost like a wanderer–staying somewhere for a few months, doing odd jobs.”

The three of them fell silent after hearing that.
It was an extremely ordinary background.
Even his appearance was very plain.
Cody immediately said, “Have you pulled the surveillance footage from after he left the Johnsons‘ building?”

Since they now suspected he had kidnapped Ivy using that suitcase, his past didn’t matter. No matter how ordinary he seemed, he was now a suspect. Tracking his movements was the most important thing.
The officer immediately replied, “Don’t worry, Mr. Grant. We’ve already started pulling the footage. After leaving the Johnson building, the suspect went to the parking lot, got into a very ordinary van, threw the suitcase in the back, and drove out heading north. He took the highway, so we’re still able to track him through cameras. The footage hasn’t all been processed. yet, though.”
Killian had left with the suitcase last night.
About twenty hours had passed since then.
They still needed time to finish reviewing all the footage.
Cody glanced at Scarlett.
Her brain worked on a completely different level from that of ordinary people. If she helped review the cameras, their progress would speed up dramatically.
Scarlett noticed the look and said, “Mr. Grant, could Nathan and I watch the footage as well? We’re both worried about Ivy. We want to help locate where the suspect went as soon as possible.”
Cody nodded. “Of course.”
The three of them returned to the surveillance room.
All the camera feeds had been pulled up.
But the officers were reviewing them very slowly. Without a mind like Scarlett’s, they could only trace Killian’s path bit by bit.
Scarlett began reviewing the footage.
Multiple road cameras played simultaneously.

Ten minutes later.
Scarlett had finished reviewing all the footage.
Nathan had finished as well.
Cody barely managed to keep up.

He was smarter than the average person, but he couldn’t analyze over a dozen camera feeds at the same time.
Their goal was to find where the suspect ended up.
They had now reached the last confirmed location.
The suspect’s trail disappeared near a highway.
The road there was very remote. Once a vehicle turned off onto the smaller roads, there were
no cameras.
So Killian’s trail completely vanished at that point.
Beyond that, none of the other camera feeds showed anything useful.
Scarlett glanced at the final timestamp on the footage. Killian’s van disappeared from the last camera at around 2 p.m.
It was now about 5 p.m.
The suspect had been missing for three hours.
The location where he disappeared was roughly 600 miles from Brookriver.
It was already deep in the northern region.
No one knew why he had taken Ivy to such a remote place.
Cody pulled up a satellite map and pointed out the routes for Scarlett and Nathan.
“This area is extremely remote. Many of the roads here don’t have surveillance cameras. Some routes ahead still have cameras, but several don’t. And those roads branch off into even more paths.
“We’ll need to analyze which road the suspect took after disappearing here, where he might’ve gone, or whether he’s still somewhere near the last known location. Either way, I’ll personally lead a team to the place where the suspect was last seen and investigate.”
