The Five Sense Sigil
Finished
They couldn’t keep waiting for a call that might never come.
If the kidnappers didn’t want money, the girl’s fate was anyone’s guess.
The decision was made, Cody packed his gear; he had checked with the local station but found no useful leads.
They were on their own.
Still, with Scarlett and Nala, there was finally a glimmer of hope.
Without them, he’d chased all the way here and lost the trail–he wouldn’t even know the next step.
Even a detective needed leads and evidence to work with.
This was clearly no ordinary kidnapping.
Cody said, “Let’s go. Back to where the van was parked.”
Five people and one dog set out again.
Cody’s car was parked at the edge of town.
Half an hour’s walk brought them back.
Scarlett unwrapped the charm containing Killian’s cigarette butt and held it out to Nala.
“Nala, sniff this. We need you to follow this scent.”
Nala inhaled deeply.
The butt still carried Killian’s saliva.
Bodily fluids carried the strongest, most trackable scent a person could leave behind.
Once Nala had the scent locked, Scarlett rewrapped the butt in the charm.
Then, she pulled out a different sigil.
With a fine needle, she pricked Nala’s hind paw. A few drops of blood welled up.
Scarlett placed the sigil on the ground and had Nala step on it with her bleeding paw.
Immediately, the sigil burst into flame–but it didn’t burn Nala.

Chapter 350 The Five Sense Sigil
It crumbled to ash.
Nala’s nostrils flared. Her eyes went wide as she stared at Scarlett.
If she could talk, she would have described what she was feeling.

She could smell the wind. She could smell everything at once–and distinguish every single thread of scent with perfect clarity.
Flowers miles away. Meals being cooked in distant kitchens. A thousand familiar and unfamiliar smells, all razor–sharp.
Scarlett read her expression and knew the sigil had taken hold.
“It worked.”
She looked up and found Cody and the others staring.
Scarlett grinned. “It’s called a Five–Sense Sigil. It amplifies all five senses.”
When she practiced sigils, she loved drawing thunder charms to train, but she knew how to draw all kinds of obscure and unusual ones.
Her bag held a small collection, varied but limited in quantity.
Cody murmured, “That’s… incredible.”
He’d just watched a sigil ignite from contact with blood.
He could see the excitement and wonder on Nala’s face.
Nathan couldn’t help staring at Scarlett.
“Scarlett, you’re amazing,” he said quietly.
His hand curled at his side. Something strange and unfamiliar stirred in his chest.
Scarlett said, “Time to move.”
She turned to Nala. “Remember that scent? Lead us to it.”
