Chapter 363 Arrival at the Set

The shop owner is occupied, so the early–month restock will be delayed by about half a month.”
Half a month was more than enough. By then, Scarlett’s scenes would definitely be finished.
The moment Daphne Group posted the notice, countless customers started wailing online.
Every month, they waited for the beginning of the month just to fight over Daphne Group’s products, and winning came down to pure hand speed. So whether it was skincare, scar–removal cream, or medicine, they grabbed whatever they could.
Even if they didn’t need the medicine themselves, chances were a friend or relative would. The medications sold through Daphne Group were all extremely effective for chronic conditions, and most families had at least one person dealing with some mild long–term illness.
But now that the notice was up, there was nothing anyone could do except wait.
What choice did they have when Daphne Group’s products worked that well?
The owner was outrageously willful.
After posting the announcement, Scarlett waited for her assistant, Maggie, to come by.
Maggie arrived soon enough. The two of them had lunch at home before heading to the airport, where they met up with Ivy.
The second Ivy saw Scarlett, her eyes curved into happy crescents. She ran over first, threw her arms around Scarlett, and called out sweetly, “Scarlett.”
Only after that did she turn to greet Maggie.
“Hi, Maggie.”
Maggie’s eyes lit up as she looked at Ivy.
“Hi, Ivy.”
Who wouldn’t love a pretty, adorable, well–behaved little girl like that?
Nathan looked at Scarlett too, but only gave her a slight nod.
He seemed to have turned back into the young man he used to be, the one who cared only about his sister and seemed emotionally distant toward everyone else.
And yet, there was still something more in the way he looked at Scarlett.
Once they boarded the plane, Ivy wasn’t sleepy at all. She sat beside Scarlett and chatted nonstop, telling her about the little details of her past few days, as if she wanted to tell her everything.
Even Maggie could tell how much the little girl liked Scarlett.

The production was filming at the studio lot in Khiburn.
Finished
The company had already arranged Scarlett’s accommodations. Cedric had been generous and booked her into a nearby five–star hotel.
Naturally, Nathan brought Ivy along and reserved a suite in the room next door to Scarlett’s.
They all went to the hotel first and dropped off their luggage.
Maggie kept talking as they walked. “Mr. Joyner booked it for half a month for now. He said they’ll see whether filming wraps by then, and if not, he’ll extend the reservation.”
Cedric had always treated Scarlett well.
In fact, he treated the company’s artists well in general. If there were resources he could secure for them, he always fought for them.
Scarlett said nothing.
She didn’t have many scenes. Cedric probably assumed she had little filming experience and would need countless retakes.
But if all her scenes were packed into one day, she could finish them in one day.
Under normal circumstances, though, each role only got one or two scenes a day. She didn’t have much screen time to begin with, so getting even one scene in a day would already be decent.
Once they were settled, Scarlett and Ivy headed to the studio lot together.
The hotel was right next to it. Just around the corner was the entrance. But there were many productions filming inside, and it still took about ten minutes on foot to reach “The Ancestor” set.
That was also why the hotel was so expensive.
After ten minutes of walking, they arrived. Yvonne and Willard were both there.
As the male and female leads, they had heavy shooting schedules and spent almost every day filming multiple scenes. Several other actors were there too.
At the moment, the leads were in the middle of a scene together, and the other actors stood quietly off to the side, watching.
Many of them had already done plenty of acting work before, but getting to watch a screen king and a screen queen perform opposite each other in person was still a rare opportunity.
Especially since this was Yvonne’s first return to acting after being away from the screen for several years.
And yet not a trace of her skill had faded. Her emotions and performance were at full force.
The actors around them watched with complete attention.
Filming tested more than just acting. It also tested an actor’s command of dialogue.

The scene they were shooting now was a continuous exchange lasting more than 40 seconds, with no cuts and no change in camera angle. It was the kind of scene that demanded real skill.
Calvert watched the two of them closely the entire time.
Scarlett and the others stood behind the crowd and watched the scene as well.
But Scarlett’s thoughts seemed to drift somewhere farther away.
It was as though she was looking past the two actors in front of her, toward something much more distant.
Emperor Augustus. He had been a truly legendary emperor. His life had been full of upheaval and grandeur.
Though he had been named crown prince in carly childhood, his father had never liked him, and the road from crown prince to emperor had been a brutal one.
His mother had been his father’s rightful wife and came from an exceptionally powerful family. Back then, it was precisely because of the strength of her clan that his father had managed to ascend the throne in the first place. But once he became emperor, he also began to fear his wife’s family.
And it was because of that same maternal power that the newly born Augustus had been named crown. prince not long after birth. But what emperor would willingly accept that kind of restraint?
So, in secret, he made repeated moves against both the crown prince and the prince’s mother’s family, trying again and again to eliminate them both. During his years as crown prince, Augustus narrowly escaped death more than once.
