Chapter 372 The Stream Begins

“Doctor, then what exactly is wrong with me?” Lavender asked, panic rising in her voice.
What the traditional doctor was saying wasn’t much different from what the specialist had said.
If the cause was supposedly the same, then why had she broken out in these strange bumps from head to toe?
Her skin had already started to ulcerate.
She didn’t even dare think about what would happen if it couldn’t be cured. Did that mean she would have to live with a rotting body like this forever? She might as well die.
The traditional doctor shook his head. “There’s nothing wrong with your body. That’s what makes this so strange. In truth, I would suggest…”
He paused before continuing, “Young lady, I think you’d better go see a priest and have yourself blessed.”
The meaning couldn’t have been clearer. Was it possible she had picked up some kind of curse?
Lavender froze. As if she had suddenly thought of something, her face turned pale.
The traditional doctor said, “If nothing else, I can prescribe a few herbal decoctions for you to try first.”
He didn’t really have any other solution. Deep down, he suspected the herbs he prescribed probably wouldn’t cure her either.
Lavender stayed pale and didn’t say another word.
The traditional doctor wrote her a prescription for five days‘ worth of medicine.
As she was leaving, he still couldn’t help saying, “Young lady, if the medicine doesn’t work, then you should start thinking of other methods.”
It sounded mystical, but sometimes the world truly couldn’t be explained by science alone.
Lavender still said nothing. She paid, took the medicine, and left.
She drank the herbal decoctions for three days and found they were useless. Every bump on her body had already burst, and more and more of the ulcerated areas were spreading.
She grew
more desperate by the day. By the time she finished the full five days of medicine, nothing had improved. More and more patches of her skin had rotted away. There was even a faint smell coming off her body now.
She hadn’t gone to set at all during these days. But she was the female lead of the drama, with the most scenes in the entire production. She couldn’t keep taking leave from the crew forever.
Lachman knew how bad things were, but all he could tell the production was that she had fallen seriously
ill.

On the fifth day, Lavender stayed holed up in the hotel room, crying.

She could smell the foul odor coming off her body. Even after showering, the smell would seep out again from the ulcerated skin in less than an hour.
And when she bathed, her whole body burned with pain.
Lachman caught the smell in the room and couldn’t help frowning. After a long silence, he let out a sigh.
“Lavender, how about this… go apologize to Scarlett and ask her to take a look at you. Doesn’t she know traditional medicine and all that esoteric stuff too? Even the traditional doctor said your condition doesn’t seem treatable and might be caused by something else. You can’t just stay in this hotel forever. The director pushed again today.”
The drama Lavender was filming was a web series. She was the female lead, and she had the most scenes. She had scenes with all kinds of people, and without her, a lot of filming simply couldn’t continue. The director had been pressing them every day, asking what illness she had and how much longer she was going to be on leave. At this point, the whole production was practically at a standstill.
Naturally, Lachman was anxious too. But looking at the state of the artist under his management, he knew there was no way she could show her face on set.
Lavender curled up in the corner, arms wrapped around herself, and kept crying.
Now her face was covered too, and it had started ulcerating as well. She didn’t even dare look in the mirror.
After a long while, she finally said yes. But she still didn’t plan to go to Scarlett directly.
Scarlett had already been with the production for a week. In another two or three days, all her scenes would be finished, and she would be able to return to Brookriver City.
Though not long after that, she would probably have to join Elliot’s film set.
That movie had already begun shooting as well, but since she didn’t have many scenes, she was scheduled to join later.
Seeing that she had already spent seven or eight days at the studio city, Scarlett remembered that she still hadn’t done a single one of her six monthly livestreams.
So that evening, she started a livestream from her hotel room.
She was a hugely popular streamer by now. Part of that came from being a celebrity, which naturally drew traffic, but the bigger reason was that her livestreams were for diagnosing and treating people.
Her audience ranged from little children to people in their 80s and 90s.
That was why every one of her streams drew no fewer than twenty million viewers.
