Chapter 371 What Medicine Couldn’t Explain

Calvert hadn’t packed their scenes too tightly and was still planning to finish filming them over about ten days.
After eating boxed lunches on set at noon, Scarlett and the others went back to the hotel.
Whenever she had free time, Scarlett stayed in her room drawing sigil and cultivating.
Meanwhile, Lavender went with her manager to see the dermatologist she had booked.
Once she took off her coat and exposed her arms, legs, waist, and abdomen, the doctor could see that every patch of bare skin was covered in angry red bumps. Some of them even showed faint signs of ulceration.
The moment the dermatologist saw the state of Lavender’s skin, he knew something wasn’t right.
No matter what kind of acne it was, it usually appeared on the face. Seeing dense clusters of it spread all over the body was extremely rare.
He immediately ordered a full series of tests.
They spent the entire afternoon running one examination after another, and when the final results came back, even he had a headache.
There was no underlying illness, no abnormality in her body at all. It was just acne. Acne of unknown cause, covering her whole body. That simply didn’t make sense.
The dermatologist explained the results to Lavender and finally said, “Based on the tests, it looks like ordinary acne, so I’ll prescribe medication for you first.”
Lavender wasn’t satisfied with that answer. Unable to hold back, she snapped, “What kind of expert are you? This is exactly the same as every other hospital I’ve been to. None of you can find anything. Who breaks out like this all over their body? Can’t you tell something’s wrong with me?”
The dermatologist gave her a long look. “Young lady, I’d advise you to try traditional medicine. Like you said, acne all over your body really isn’t normal. But from a modern medical standpoint, all the tests have been done, and nothing unusual showed up. Since that’s the case, you might as well let a traditional doctor take a look.”
He phrased it carefully.
He found Lavender’s symptoms extremely strange. In his mind, this might not just be a matter for traditional medicine.
Some traditional doctors understood certain things beyond ordinary medicine, so his meaning was more or less this. The way her skin had erupted was too unusual, and since it didn’t appear to be pathological, she ought to consider other methods, whether that meant seeing a traditional doctor or seeking out someone with more esoteric knowledge.
But Lavender didn’t catch his implication. She only frowned and stayed silent, irritation boiling inside her.

Chapter 371 What Medicine Couldn’t Explain
Even the top dermatologist in Khiburn couldn’t cure these breakouts?
What if they kept getting worse?
She could already feel the tips of the bumps turning white, as though they were about to burst.

What she feared most was that even if they eventually healed, they might leave marks all over her body.
After the specialist prescribed some medicine, Lavender and her manager returned to the hotel.
Once they were back, Lachman still couldn’t help saying, “Why don’t you just apologize to Scarlett? Even a specialist from Khiburn Hospital is out of options and told you to try traditional medicine. Doesn’t Scarlett practice traditional medicine too? And she’s very good at it. She’s always trending online. A lot of people in her livestreams have been cured by her, including plenty of difficult cases. Yours counts as a difficult case too, doesn’t it?”
Lavender got annoyed. “I’m not going. I’m not apologizing to her. I didn’t do anything wrong.”
She didn’t believe there was anything wrong with what she had done to climb higher.
Every man for himself. If Scarlett couldn’t handle it back then, that was Scarlett’s problem.
Of course, the current Scarlett was someone she couldn’t go against anymore.
But even so, she still didn’t want to lower her head.
Lachman was fed up too. “Fine, fine. I’m done talking. Just remember to use the medicine the doctor prescribed.”
After Lachman left, Lavender applied the medication.
Over the next two days, filming went smoothly for Scarlett and Ivy. Scarlett passed every scene in one take.
Most of the time, she stayed at the hotel. And when Ivy wanted to go out and play, the others would accompany the little girl around the studio lot.
As for Lavender, two days later, she realized the specialist’s medicine wasn’t working at all. Every single bump on her body had burst.
White pus seeped out of them, and after two full days, none of them had healed. Instead, the ruptured areas seemed to be slowly ulcerating.
And that wasn’t all. The bumps had already spread across her face. Now her face was covered in them too.
The Foundation couldn’t hide them anymore. There was no way she could keep filming.
Lavender was completely breaking down. Fear gnawed at her, and in the end she had no choice but to ask the production for leave.
