4 Make Her Pay luggage?”
“I’m leaving,” Scarlett said.
She left without looking back.
The housekeeper panicked and immediately called Leona.
Leona was still at work. When she heard the news, she froze, then quickly called her daughter.
She had known Raymond would go to the hospital today to coax the crystal bead from Scarlett. Now Scarlett was suddenly back and insisting on leaving. Had something gone wrong?
The call connected, and Hazel’s sobbing voice came through.
“Mom, it failed.”
She explained everything that had happened at the hospital.
Leona frowned. “You were far too careless. After five years of effort, you ruined it at the last step. You know how cautious she is.”
Hazel muttered, “But I don’t even like Raymond. Who wants to steal her boyfriend? She misunderstood everything.”
To her, Raymond was just a pathetic simp. The Xanders were indeed well–off in Brookriver City, but not top–level.
Also, she was already famous. He wasn’t worthy of her at all. Her boyfriend had to be the best man in the world.
Leona frowned. She had spoiled her daughter too much.
“Hazel, you can’t think like that. You need to understand how to use human nature. I’ll call your dad and have him stop Scarlett. She can’t leave home right now.”
If Scarlett left, getting the crystal bead would be even harder.
After a few more words, Hazel complained tearfully, “Mom, Scarlett slapped me at the hospital. My face is all swollen.”
Leona’s expression turned cold when she heard that.
“Be good. Once we get the bead, I’ll make her pay a thousand times over.”
After hanging up, Leona called Matthew and told him Scarlett had left the hospital, adding that Scarlett had misunderstood Hazel and Raymond.
Matthew frowned. “What’s she acting up for now? She’s already hurt by that crazy fan, and she’s still running around instead of staying in the hospital?”
Leona sighed.
“Don’t blame her. Her face and body aren’t healed yet. Just call her and persuade her to go back.”
“Alright. Thanks for taking care of it. Scarlett is really ungrateful. You treat her so well, and she’s always cold.”
“She’s your daughter, too. I want what’s best for her.”
After the call, Matthew dialed Scarlett, but it wouldn’t connect.
His face darkened. He realized she’d blocked him, which made him angry. He figured she needed a lesson, thinking someone with that injured face wouldn’t last long on her own.
Scarlett dragged her suitcase down to the bus stop at the foot of the mountain and opened a rental app. She needed a place to stay while she figured out the crystal bead’s secret.
After being reborn, revenge was on her mind. And she could still feel her life force slipping away.
She knew that if she couldn’t gather more people’s affection, she’d die miserably again.
That was why she wasn’t planning to leave the entertainment industry yet. Even with a terrible reputation, it was still the easiest place to gain fans.
A haunted house. No wonder
