Chapter 404 Trouble, Money, and a Race

The girl sitting next to the white–haired guy had a very short haircut, almost like a buzz cut. She couldn’t help asking. “Ty–Runt, why do you look so shocked seeing Scarlett?”

“Cut it out,” the white–haired guy snapped. “Don’t call me Ty–Runt.”

His real name was Tyrone Wallaker.

When he was a kid, people gave him that nickname. Back then, he didn’t mind it. But once he hit his teens, he thought it sounded stupid–like some weird joke. Since then, he hated it. Too bad his friends had known him since childhood. They ignored his protests and kept calling him that anyway.

The short–haired girl beside him looked cool and sharp. Her features were a bit androgynous, which only made her seem more striking. Her name was Wynne Rios.

She had also grown up with the group.

When she saw Scarlett, she acted like they already knew each other.

“Scarlett, come sit here.”

Even though none of them had met Scarlett in real life before, they had heard about her from Simon. She was also pretty well–known online.

They even knew Simon had once been cursed by Hazel, and it was Scarlett who helped remove it.

So to them, Scarlett already felt like an old friend.

Scarlett walked over and sat down.

Everyone started introducing themselves.

She only heard their names once, but she remembered them all.

Only Tyrone kept staring at her, eyes wide.

Wynne kicked him under the table. “Ty–Runt, hurry up and introduce yourself. Why are you just staring at her?”

“Get lost,” Tyrone muttered. Then he finally looked at Scarlett/“Hey, weren’t you arguing with Eustace by the elevator earlier? The cops even showed up. How did you get out so fast?”

That was why he looked so shocked.

A few hours ago, he had gone to the restroom and happened to see the whole thing.

Scarlett had grabbed Eustace and thrown him over her shoulder. The guy flew several feet like it was nothing.

Then she kicked his two bodyguards aside, one by one. Clean and quick.

After that, the police arrived and took everyone away.

Tyrone had thought, with the Lynns‘ power, Scarlett would be in serious trouble. Maybe even locked up for

a while.

He had planned to tell the others about it when he got back to the private room. But someone started a bet, the topic changed, and he had a few drinks. He completely forgot about it.

Now that he saw Scarlett sitting here just fine, it all came back to him.

Simon frowned. “Eustace Lynn? How did Scarlett end up clashing with him?”

Tyrone told everyone what he had seen three hours earlier.

Wynne looked surprised. “You really kicked Eustace? Then all I can say is–nice. Someone needed to deal with that guy.”

Everyone there came from good families. Still, none of them liked dealing with Eustace. He was like a mess you didn’t want to step in. Even if their families could protect them, they would rather stay far away from him.

Unless they had no choice, they avoided him completely.

The group started talking all at once.

Finally, Tyrone couldn’t hold back anymore. “Scarlett, how did you get out of the police station so fast? I thought they’d keep you there for a while. You don’t know how arrogant Eustace is…”

He went on and on, telling her about Eustace’s past behavior.

The others were curious too. They asked how she got out so quickly and where Eustace was now.

Scarlett shrugged. “Not really sure. Maybe someone at the station is a fan of mine. After I gave my statement, they ruled it self–defense and let me go. They kept Eustace instead.”

Everyone was stunned at this.

No matter what Eustace had done before, he had never been detained.

But they could tell Scarlett was joking about the “fan” part. The real reason was probably something she couldn’t say.

They were all smart enough not to push.

Soon, they changed the topic.

Someone suddenly said, “Oh right, there’s a race in a few days. Will Eustace still make it?”
