Alex froze. He stared at Callie’s arm, stunned. Then he turned around and punched Pamela hard in the
nose.
“Witch!” he shouted. “Are you even human? Even if she isn’t your daughter, how could you treat her like this? I swear, I could kill you.”
The police rushed in at once and pulled him away.
Pamela screamed as blood poured from her nose.
Scarlett let out a quiet sigh.
Marty finished drawing the blood.
Callie was far too thin. She was badly undernourished, and even drawing blood from her arm was difficult.
When it was done, Marty said to Zoey, “Mrs. Crawford, I’ll go to the lab right away. The results should be ready in about an hour. I’ll send them directly to your phone.”
“Alright. Thank you so much, Dr. Binder.”
After Marty left, Scarlett spoke as well.
‘Mrs. Crawford, there’s nothing else I need to do now. I’ll head back.”
Zoey hesitated. Her eyes were red as she looked at Scarlett.
‘Ms. Sanchez, the results will be ready soon. Could you stay for one more hour?”
Callie kept glancing at Scarlett. It was clear that with Scarlett nearby, she felt safe.
Scarlett thought for a moment.
One hour wouldn’t hurt.
She sat down again, cross–legged, and quietly began to train.
Alex wanted to say something to Scarlett, maybe ask her a few questions.
She was deep in her cultivation; he didn’t dare disturb her. He could only stare at Callie, lost in thought.
The more he looked, the more his heart ached.
Was this girl really 16? She looked more like 12 or 13, so thin she barely looked human.
Inside the police station, everyone waited for the results.
Pamela wailed loudly, but no one paid her any attention.
Zoey led Callie to a room. She spoke to her softly, her gaze gentle and caring.

Outside, many people were waiting too.
The staff stayed outside the station. The cameras were still rolling, aimed at the entrance.
The livestream audience had not dropped below 30 million.
Viewers had been closely watching since Zoey entered the police station.
Everyone was guessing–would Zoey sue Scarlett?
But it wasn’t just the viewers watching.
Cedric was paying attention as well. Ever since Scarlett got back the supporting role in Elliot’s movie, he had developed a strange confidence in her. He firmly believed Scarlett would never scam the Quinns.
Alina and her mother–in–law, Sophia Manning, were watching too.
After Scarlett had saved Milo, Sophia had kept an eye on her. She knew Scarlett was on a show today and had been watching the livestream all day.
She even invited several old friends to watch with her.
Those friends didn’t believe it at all. An eighteen–year–old girl who knew ancient carving techniques and complex wooden structures? Impossible.
Now Scarlett was doing oracle readings. She was even capable of taking glimpses of fate.
They felt even more convinced that Sophia had lost her judgment, trusting a young celebrity so easily.
Nicholas tagged another member–a well–known cultural studies expert–hoping he would speak up and bring Sophia back to her senses.
Nicholas wrote, “@James, could you take a look? That hand gesture the girl used just now–what exactly was it? Is she really able to see fate?”
He then explained everything that had happened.
James Pena was a professor of cultural studies at Jyncrest University and also taught history there.
He appeared quickly. When he saw the image of Scarlett forming the sigil, his eyes widened.
He took a sharp breath and typed a fast reply.
James wrote, “This is a very ancient sigil meant to open True Sight. It requires extremely advanced power. Almost no one alive could complete it. And even then, opening True Sight requires more than a sigil–it needs formations, rituals, and more. A hand sigil alone isn’t enough.”
James also practiced physiognomy. He had studied Callie’s features before, and now he was clearly surprised.
He continued, “This girl feature show a family line blessed by virtue and wealth. Her real parents should be good people from a prosperous family. That does not match the woman named Pamela at all. Pamela’s

features suggest a life of poverty and no one to rely on in old age.”
Nicholas froze. “So Callie really could be Mrs. Crawford’s child? Does that mean Scarlett practices physiognomy too?
“But how did she know who Callie’s real parents were? Did she actually have True Sight?”
James replied quickly.

“I’ll be honest. Even if I can tell the kind of life Callie’s real parents should have, I cannot tell who they are. That is beyond me. As for glimpses of fate, I don’t have that ability either.
“And let’s be real. Even someone with a little training who dares to attempt True Sight would collapse within days. Ordinary people can’t even finish making that sigil properly. At best, they could imitate the motion, but without precision, it meant nothing.”
James himself had some merit and basic training. He practiced physiognomy and meditation. Once, out of curiosity, he tried forming the first part of that sigil. By the time he finished it, he was drenched in sweat, his energy nearly drained. And that was only the first step.
