The Unwavering Heart That Broke novel Chapter 103

Nathalie was steps away from leaving the villa when someone shouted behind her. She paused, glanced back, and her face drained of color.

At the hospital, the sharp smell of disinfectant lingered everywhere. The mood inside Camilla’s room felt thick and heavy. After a round of checks and careful bandaging, the doctor said Camilla’s head wasn’t badly hurt, just a mild concussion. Now, she was asleep, looking fragile and exhausted.

The door suddenly swung open. Felice hurried in, still wearing a mask that didn't do much to hide how worried she looked. “Dad, how’s Mom?”

Daniel’s face stayed stern. “She’ll be alright. But why are you wearing a mask? Are you sick?”

Felice glanced at Nathalie without thinking, then shook her head. “I’ve got a slight cold, that’s all.”

Daniel didn’t miss that tiny look. He frowned. “Take off your mask. Let me see.”

Felice hesitated, shaking her head a little harder. “I really am sick, Dad. Mom’s not strong. If I give her my germs, what then?”

“Take it off.”

His voice was even more serious now. Felice, looking like she had no way out, slowly peeled off her mask. Her face was still red and swollen on one side, though it wasn’t as bad as it had been that morning. It was obvious someone had hit her.

Daniel’s eyes snapped to Nathalie. “Was this you?”

Nathalie didn’t flinch. “Yeah, it was me. What, does it look lopsided? Want me to fix the other side?”

“You…” Daniel clenched his jaw, furious, but when he saw Camilla still resting, he forced himself to stay calm.

Daniel sighed and pointed at Nathalie. “It’s her, as always…”

Lance’s brow furrowed, but this time, he didn’t just take his father’s side. Instead, he looked at Felice. “Felice, what did you tell Mom and Dad this time?”

Felice stiffened, her face full of shock. “I… I just got here. What could I have said? Lance, are you saying I’m the one stirring up trouble between Nathalie and our parents?”

Lance’s expression stayed calm. “Still, every time there’s an issue, you’re always here when Nathalie gets blamed. It’s hard not to wonder.”

Felice immediately looked hurt. “Lance, you really have it wrong.”

Daniel’s voice was low and firm. “Lance, you are misunderstanding Felice. Look at her face. Your sister hit her, and she admitted it.”
