The Unwavering Heart That Broke novel Chapter 107

Now he was telling her he didn't know, that he needed to look into it.

Nathalie clung to her seatbelt, her voice scratchy as she asked, “If you didn’t know, then why didn’t you question it when I first told you?”

“That doesn’t matter.”

Lance reached for her hand, his intense eyes locked on hers. “It’s in the past. It’s not worth worrying about now.”

Her large eyes welled up with unshed tears as she stared back at him. “How can you say it doesn’t matter? Felice wants to take everything from me. She even wants the credit for saving you. Lance, it matters. It really does.”

He frowned. “Even if she was the one who saved me, I wouldn’t feel any differently about you.”

Did she really think he was only with her because he felt like he owed her? Was that what she believed about him?

“I saved you, not her!” Nathalie said, her voice trembling but stubborn. She pulled her hand away. “Lance, you have to understand, I was the one who saved you, not Felice. She’s lying. She keeps trying to take everything that belongs to me.”

She was on edge, her emotions raw. Tears shimmered in her eyes, making it hard to look at her without feeling her hurt.

“Alright, it was you. I won’t look into it anymore. I believe you,” Lance said softly, hoping to comfort her.

Nathalie turned and stared out at the darkness outside. All of this just felt ridiculous.

Her father was handing over shares of The Blair Group to his adopted daughter. And now that woman was claiming to be the one who saved Lance.

It all felt like a bad dream... except it was actually happening.

She opened the car door and got out, heading inside without looking back.

Lance sat in the car, not moving, not even glancing her way. After a long, heavy silence, he finally pulled out his phone and called his assistant, Aaron.

“I need you to check something for me.”

The bruises and swelling on Felice’s face had completely faded after a night’s rest. She carefully wiped Camilla’s mouth and set the empty dishes aside.

“Mom, do you want to lie down for a bit?” she asked gently.

Camilla gave her a loving look. “No need. I just finished eating and it’s uncomfortable to lie down right after. I’ll sit for a while.”

Felice nodded. “Alright, that’s fine.”

She stood up to take the dishes away, but paused when she met Nathalie’s icy glare. She hesitated, then said, “Nathalie, I know you’re upset, but you shouldn’t lie about this. It isn’t fair to mislead Lance.”

Nathalie glared at her, her voice like a threat. “Say another word, and I’ll shut you up myself.”

Felice immediately backed away, clearly frightened.

“If you just came here to cause trouble, you should get back to work. Felice can take care of me,” Camilla said, breaking the tension.
