The Unwavering Heart That Broke novel Chapter 151

The cup was way too big for Jasper. His little hands shook as he tried to hold it steady.

Nathalie saw this and took it from him without a second thought, her face still totally unreadable.

Jasper peeked up at her, eyes a little nervous. “Nathalie, you didn’t say thank you.”

Nathalie was so thrown she almost laughed out loud. Was this little guy for real?

She glanced down at him. “You’re not scared of me anymore?”

Jasper stared at her cool expression. He used to get intimidated when she looked at him like that, but now? He just shook his head, honest and serious. “No. Not anymore.”

She gave him a half-hearted laugh. “Wait until I call the Big Bad Wolf. Then you’ll know what fear is.”

Jasper just shook his head again. “Lance will chase the wolf away.”

That left Nathalie speechless.

What was she even doing? Why was she trading banter with a kid she didn’t even like?

She turned to Lance. “Move. I’m out of here.”

Lance just said, “I haven’t eaten. No energy to move.”

Nathalie held back her retort and just fell quiet.

Jasper, meanwhile, picked up a warm towel and very carefully wiped his hands before starting on his meal. He ate so neatly, taking tiny bites, not making a mess or grabbing for food.

Nathalie found herself watching him, a little surprised at how polite he was.

Lance caught her looking, a hint of amusement flicking in his eyes before his expression turned thoughtful.

He broke the silence. “I’m planning on getting custody of Jasper.”

Nathalie shot him a look. “So you want to turn your nephew into your son? That’s bold.”

Lance’s brow tightened. He looked tired as he replied, “I said I want custody, not adoption. He’s Jackson’s kid, not mine.”

And just like that, the conversation died.

Lance just went quiet. He didn’t move, only dug into his meal at the same slow pace as Jasper.

Suddenly, his phone rang. He glanced down, then answered. “Hi, Mom.”

Madonna’s voice was sharp. “Lance, what did you do?”

He blinked. “What?”

“Felice came storming into The Adams Estate. First thing she did was say you’re trying to steal her son. Then she passed out. She’s in the hospital now. Get over here. Now.”

Lance’s brows knitted together. “Did she tell you what happened?”

“She barely got the words out before she fainted. How am I supposed to know?” Madonna sounded seriously annoyed. If Lance really tried to take Jasper, Felice would never let it go.

And this was the last kind of drama Madonna wanted.
