The Unwavering Heart That Broke (Nathalie and Lance) novel Chapter 180

When Felice spotted Nathalie, she rushed over and grabbed her hand, yanking her toward the stairwell.

Nathalie’s expression immediately turned icy. “What are you doing? Let go of me.”

Felice wouldn’t let go. Her grip only tightened, her face twisting with emotion.

Only after they reached the stairwell did Felice finally release Nathalie’s arm. Her eyes were red as she demanded, “Nathalie, did you go see Freddy first on purpose? Were you trying to get ahead of me?”

Nathalie folded her arms and let out a low laugh. “On purpose? Please. It’s every woman for herself. Just because you couldn’t get it done, you want to blame me?”

Felice bit her lip. “Lance told me I could reach out to The Charles Group, to help make the Blair and Charles partnership happen. Nathalie, why did you have to get in my way?”

With every word, Nathalie’s face grew colder. The look she gave Felice was full of frustration and something close to disgust.

“Maybe you should go ask Lance why he’s so useless he couldn’t even handle the partnership himself,” Nathalie said, her tone sharp. She turned, ready to leave. She had no intention of listening to more of Felice’s drama.

But Felice caught her arm again. “Why do you always compete with me? I’m just the adopted daughter. All I want is to pay Mom and Dad back for raising me. Why won’t you let me have even this one opportunity?”

“Let go,” Nathalie snapped, wrenching her arm out of Felice’s grasp. She pulled away fast, her patience gone.

There was a sudden cry, then the heavy thud of someone falling.

Nathalie spun around in shock just in time to see Felice tumbling down the stairs, landing in a crumpled heap on the floor below. Felice’s face was white, twisted with pain.

A guy was just coming in to have a smoke when he saw Felice lying there. He dropped his cigarette and rushed over.

“Whoa, what happened?” he blurted.

Felice, shaking, pointed right at Nathalie. “You… why did you push me…”

Then her eyes fluttered shut and she passed out.

Nathalie stared right back, her face hard. “That would be way too stupid. I’m not that kind of person.”

If she had something against Felice, she’d deal with it out in the open, not with some shady stunt like this.

Felice, though… Felice had always been a fan of these manipulative little games. She’d been pulling this kind of thing since they were kids. It always worked, every time.

Just then, the police showed up. With an accusation of intentional harm, they took Nathalie away. It didn’t take long for Daniel and Camilla to hear the news. Both looked furious.

“This is getting out of control! That troublemaker has zero respect for us anymore. Can you believe she’d do this to Felice? Let her sit in the police station for a few days, maybe she’ll learn her lesson,” Daniel said angrily.

Camilla just wiped her tears, her voice trembling. “Is Felice going to be alright? She fell all the way down the stairs… She must be hurting so badly.”

Lance stood quietly to one side, his expression grim. He didn’t stop the police from taking Nathalie away. He’d already sent someone to pull up the security footage. He needed proof before taking any next steps.
