The Unwavering Heart That Broke (Nathalie and Lance) novel Chapter 199

“Nathalie, are you awake?” Camilla called softly from the hallway.

Lance’s expression grew hard. He stood, crossed the room, and opened the door to find Camilla waiting, worry written all over her face.

She automatically took a couple of steps backward. “Lance, is Nathalie awake?”

He kept his voice cold. “Why are you here?”

“I just wanted to check on her. I wanted to see how she’s doing.” Camilla’s voice trembled.

“She’s fine, but she doesn’t want to see you. Don’t come back again,” Lance replied, his words blunt and final.

Camilla’s eyes filled with tears. “How can you say that? Nathalie’s badly hurt. I need to see for myself that she’s okay.”

Lance closed the door with a sigh, the impatience in his handsome features impossible to miss. “When is Daniel coming to apologize to her?”

Camilla froze. “What? Apologize?”

Lance let out a short laugh, the sound sharp. “Are you really going to pretend you didn’t hear me?”

Panic flashed across Camilla’s face, but she quickly forced calm into her voice. “Lance, your father was just upset, he lost his temper. He never really meant to hit Nathalie. He’s her dad. Since when do parents apologize to their kids? Besides, Nathalie really was in the wrong this time…”

Lance’s gaze iced over. “You say she did wrong. Did you see her push Felice downstairs with your own eyes?”

Camilla hesitated, caught off guard, then whispered, “But Felice would never hurt herself just to set Nathalie up.”

“Maybe she slipped, but there’s no way Nathalie did this,” Lance said, total trust in his voice.

Camilla tried again to explain, but Lance cut her off with a raised hand. “Daniel needs to apologize to Nathalie. If he doesn’t, I won’t be nearly as forgiving.”

With nothing more, he stepped back into the room.

But by the next morning, the truth hit them hard.

Daniel went to the office like always, only to be swamped with urgent calls from his managers. One after another, partnerships between The Blair Group and The Adams Group were canceled. The Blair Group’s main suppliers were also breaking their contracts, ready to pay the penalties just to cut ties.

In an instant, The Blair Group’s stock price started to plummet, the whole company facing a crisis.

At the board meeting, confusion spread among the directors.

“The Adams Group has always worked closely with us. Why would they end things with no warning?”

“Yeah, what happened? Does anyone know?”

“Daniel, did you even try to talk to Lance? What went wrong? If you tell us, maybe we can fix it. This kind of blind cancellation is costing us a fortune.”
