The Unwavering Heart That Broke (Nathalie and Lance) novel Chapter 203

Leda’s expression tightened, her voice grave. “Lance, are you listening? She’s determined to tear the Adams family apart. What are you waiting for? Go file for divorce, right now.”

Nathalie tried her best to hide her excitement as she glanced over at Lance.

He was watching her too, his dark eyes unreadable, as if he could see straight through her thoughts.

He spoke in that calm way he always did. “Grandma, Nathalie and I have been together for years. Divorce isn’t happening. I’ll deal with things between us.”

He paused, then added, “As for the Blair Group’s mess, that’s on the company itself. I haven’t meddled at all. Daniel should be investigating his own team and actually fixing the issues.”

Leda scowled at him. “Don’t try to spin this with your polite excuses. I want a divorce. Yes or no?”

“No.”

Lance’s answer was firm, his voice steady, leaving no room for argument.

Leda’s hands shook with anger. “You ungrateful child. How dare you defy me? Do you think I won’t call a board meeting and have you removed from your position?”

Lance met her glare, looking more tired than angry. “Grandma, you really shouldn’t be getting involved with the company at your age.”

She bristled at his words, feeling completely pushed aside. This whole visit had been pointless, and the realization only made her angrier.

In a sudden burst of frustration, Leda raised her hand and slapped Lance. The force behind it was weak, more symbolic than anything else.

Lance didn’t even flinch. “Grandma, you’ve already hit me. Is your anger out now? I’ll get someone to take you home.”

“Lance, did you hear that?” Leda’s voice rose, her eyes wide with shock. “This is insane! Absolutely insane! She’s threatening murder now. She’ll ruin your life if you stay with her. Divorce her, right now, do you hear me?”

Her outrage left her breathing hard, clutching her chest.

It looked like she might collapse at any moment.

Lance quietly pressed the nurse call button.

Leda waved it off, determined. “I’m not leaving. If you two aren’t getting divorced, then I’ll die right here in this room.”

Nathalie’s lips curled into a smirk. “Jasper’s your only grandchild, right? Where would be a good place to sell him… Maybe overseas? If I sell him here, you might manage to find him.”
