The Unwavering Heart That Broke (Nathalie and Lance) novel Chapter 206

Daniel was still waiting for Nathalie to swallow her pride and admit she was wrong.

He figured Leda’s visit to the hospital might smooth things over, but it didn’t fix a thing. If anything, the attacks from The Adams Group only got worse.

Bank after bank kept calling, demanding money back. The stock price just kept tanking. Daniel could barely hold it together, his jaw tight, fists clenched. “Those bastards,” he spit out, practically shaking with anger.

Camilla was just as on edge, her face pale. She stood up abruptly. “I’ll talk to Nathalie. This is too much.” She strode out, the bodyguards giving her a wary look but not moving to stop her.

But when she reached Nathalie’s room, she was blocked. The door was locked. Camilla leaned closer, her voice rising, “Nathalie, let me in. We need to talk.”

The whole floor was so quiet that her plea echoed down the hallway.

The two bodyguards exchanged glances, surprised by how loud she was getting. One of them quickly called Lance.

Camilla kept going, her tone growing desperate. “Nathalie, can’t we just sit down and discuss this like a family? Why are you shutting us out—you’re acting like you don’t even have a family. How can you be so unreasonable?”

Inside, Nathalie was sprawled on her bed, tapping away at a simple game on her phone. Her injury didn’t hurt anymore, though it was starting to itch a little. With Camilla’s voice seeping in through the walls, she lost focus and failed the level.

She tossed the phone aside, got to her feet, and walked toward the door.

Through the glass, their eyes met for a moment. Mother and daughter, both frozen—so close, but so far.

Camilla’s expression softened, hope flickering as she took a step forward. “Nathalie, sweetheart, let your mom in. Please. I need to talk to you.”

Nathalie didn’t say a word. She just stood there, gaze calm and unreadable.

But Nathalie calmly pulled her hand back, turned, and went back into the room. The door clicked shut behind her.

Camilla stood there in disbelief, numb, staring at the closed door. What was that supposed to mean?

The other bodyguard finished his call and approached, cool and businesslike. “Mrs. Blair, if you don’t leave now, the Department of Commerce will be paying The Blair Group a visit next.”

Camilla’s heart jerked. She didn’t dare stay any longer. She left and hurried back to tell Daniel everything.

Daniel looked like he might explode, his fists tight and face gray with fury. He knew what Lance was doing—forcing him to apologize to Nathalie. If he didn’t give in soon, The Blair Group could really be finished.

Rumors were swirling everywhere on the outside. People were talking and guessing, coming up with all kinds of wild stories. But Lance—well, he just didn’t care.
