The Unwavering Heart That Broke (Nathalie and Lance) novel Chapter 212

Nathalie’s brows drew together as soon as she saw him.

“Where to?” the driver asked.

After a short pause, Nathalie named her apartment complex.

The driver glanced at her, then at Lance sitting up front. “Trouble in paradise?” he teased.

Nathalie turned away, staring out the window, not saying a word.

Lance answered instead. “I’m trying to make things right with her.”

The driver chuckled. “Son, if you want to win her back, you gotta really mean it. Show your sincerity.”

Lance looked right at him. “What should I do?”

The driver broke into a bigger grin. “Newlyweds, huh? Isn’t it obvious? It’s not complicated. Can you cook? Make her favorite meal, wash up the kitchen, and kneel at her feet. No back talk, no excuses, just admit you were wrong. Trust me, that works.”

Lance actually looked like he was taking notes.

Nathalie closed her eyes, shaking her head to herself.

Kneel? In some fantasy, maybe.

If Lance ever got down on his knees, she’d believe pigs could fly. He looked easygoing most of the time, but in reality, he was way too proud. Super stubborn, too. Once he made up his mind about something, nothing could get him to change it. There was no way he’d ever admit he was wrong.

She couldn’t help finding the driver’s advice a little funny.

They reached the complex entrance pretty quickly. Nathalie stepped out of the car without so much as glancing back.

The driver laughed. “Buddy, you’ve really done it this time. She won’t even look at you. Better step up your game.”

“I will,” Lance said, grabbing his phone and opening his payment app.

A moment later, the driver’s phone chimed. Payment received: ten thousand yuan.

The driver stared at his phone in shock. “Wait, hold up, you paid way too much!”

Lance got out, offering a soft, “Thanks for your advice.”

Then he walked straight toward the building.

“I can have someone else do it. I don’t need your help.”

He shook his head, tone flat. “I’m not letting anyone else touch you.”

The elevator doors slid open. Nathalie walked out first, face ice-cold. She opened her apartment door fast, trying to shut it before Lance could come in.

But he saw right through her. His hand landed on the door, holding it firmly, and with just a little push, he walked in too.

Nathalie nearly screamed in frustration.

Why would this man just NOT leave her alone? She’d tried being polite, being rude, even using force. Nothing mattered. He wasn’t fazed by anything.

She was completely out of ideas.

Lance noticed the exasperation all over her face, and something heavy pressed against his chest.

He told her, “No showers yet. Wait until the scabs fall off.”

“Just stop!” Nathalie shot back, overwhelmed. “Why do you keep hovering over me? Don’t you have your own life? Lance, please, I’m begging you. Go find Felice. Go find Jasper. I swear, I really won’t be mad at you!”
