The Unwavering Heart That Broke (Nathalie and Lance) novel Chapter 211

A wave of sadness, frustration, and anger crashed inside Nathalie, almost too much to handle. Yet, when she saw Camilla lying in the hospital bed, unconscious and fragile, it felt like something heavy pressed down on every emotion, making it impossible to let anything out.

She just stood there in silence, quietly waiting.

Lance came back after his phone call. He noticed how pale Nathalie looked and spoke gently. “I called the best cardiologist. He’ll be here in a few days. She’s going to be okay. Try not to worry, alright?”

Nathalie’s lashes fluttered as she pressed her lips together, holding back anything she wanted to say.

Lance glanced at Daniel, his voice going colder. “Even now, you’re still blaming her. So this is the side you’re choosing.”

It was obvious. Between The Blair Group and Felice, Daniel had picked Felice.

Daniel’s face tightened, anger blazing in his eyes as he looked at Lance. “You—” He stopped himself, unable to say anything more.

Lance watched him quietly with steady, unreadable eyes. As long as he stayed in this room, Daniel still had a chance to change his mind, to take back what he’d said. The moment Lance left, everything would fall apart.

Daniel’s anger faded into something tired and helpless. He turned to Nathalie now, his force from before completely gone. “Nathalie, I shouldn’t have blamed you. Hitting you was wrong. I promise, it won’t happen again.”

Nathalie felt her heart twist. She didn’t know what to say.

Lance looked at her, speaking softly. “Do you want to go home and rest?”

Daniel quickly jumped in. “Lance, The Blair Group is the only thing she has left. Please, don’t be harsh.”

Lance didn’t respond to him. He just kept his eyes on Nathalie.

She shook her head. “I’m not going back.”

“Alright. Then I’ll stay here with you.” Lance dragged a chair over and gently encouraged her to sit.

The room went quiet, only the faint sounds of hospital machines breaking the silence.

Camilla nodded gently. “It’s late. Get some sleep, sweetheart.”

Nathalie turned and hurried out of the room.

Lance followed close behind, seeing the pain and fight in every step she took. He knew she was always soft at heart, always quietly hoping her parents would choose her, fight for her, put her first.

There was something in the way her face looked, so pale and fragile in the hallway light. He didn’t quite know what to do with how that made him feel.

He reached out to catch her hand. “Nathalie, let me take you home.”

She slipped her hand out of his and shook her head, picking up her pace. “I don’t need a ride.”

By now, the hospital was quiet, the world outside almost completely still.

Nathalie flagged down a taxi and got inside. She had just opened her mouth to tell the driver to go when the passenger door swung open and Lance climbed in, refusing to let her face this night alone.
