The Unwavering Heart That Broke (Nathalie and Lance) novel Chapter 214

Damaris: Alright, got it!

Thirty million… That was insane.

Jewelry this rare usually comes with a price tag that only gets higher. Damaris had never had that much pocket money in her whole life. Her best friend seriously came through for her.

Nathalie lay on her side, totally spent, barely able to move. She closed her eyes, the exhaustion pulling her under in a heavy, blurry daze.

At the hospital, Felice was pacing, nerves buzzing since she couldn’t leave. Lance had cornered Daniel and pushed him to apologize to Nathalie. That was only going to make things weirder between Daniel and Nathalie. In fact, Felice thought, it actually kind of sucked that she couldn’t watch the drama unfold in person.

She pulled out her phone and called Daniel, trying to sound casual as she pressed for an update.

Daniel sounded utterly worn out. “Felice, your mom’s had a heart problem. She’s in the hospital right now.”

Felice’s eyes flashed with a strange, unreadable look, but her voice was all concern. “What? How? Dad, seriously, what happened tonight?”

Daniel let out a sigh. “Nathalie wants to cut ties with us. Your mom couldn’t handle it. She had an episode.”

Felice bit her lip. “How could Nathalie say something like that? She’s just breaking Mom’s heart... Which hospital are you at? I’ll come over right away.”

“There’s no need for that,” Daniel replied. “You should rest. Your mom just fell asleep and she needs peace.”

“Okay, I’ll come tomorrow then,” Felice said sweetly. She hung up almost instantly.

In her darkened hospital room, Felice stared out the window, a sly, satisfied smile playing at her lips.

The next morning.

Nathalie finished getting ready and headed straight for The Adams Group. Since Apex Audio had become just a department inside the bigger company, they’d moved offices.

Nathalie stepped out of the elevator right as Addis was passing by.

Addis tapped the table, pulling everyone back to business. “So, about the roles we discussed before…”

Even though Lance stayed quiet, his presence was impossible to ignore. Having him there was like working with a sword hanging over your head—sharp, cold, and stressful.

Still, the meeting somehow went without a hitch, which honestly surprised Addis.

“Alright, take half an hour to rest, then it’s time to record,” he announced. The team scattered quickly.

Nathalie grabbed her script and headed out, but as she walked past Lance, he reached out and stopped her.

She looked down at him, a little wary. “Do you need something?”

“I just want to check your injury,” Lance said, those dark eyes watching her closely, his voice perfectly neutral.

Nathalie frowned, irritation flashing across her face. “I told you, I’m fine. There’s nothing to check.”

Plus, this was a meeting room. There were cameras everywhere!
