Olivia swallowed her irritation and let out a cold laugh. “You really think you’re something special just because Lance is behind you. Without him, what would you even be?”

Nathalie met her gaze, eyes cool and unbothered. “If you know how to get him out of my life, let me know. Honestly, I’d love for him to disappear.”

Olivia fell silent, seething inside, but Freddy cut in before she could snap back. “That’s enough. Come with me.”

Olivia shot Nathalie a glare sharp enough to cut glass, then spun around and stomped away.

Back at the office, Nathalie lost herself in work, spending another two hours inside the recording booth. When she finally stepped out, the sky outside had already slipped into darkness.

Someone was sitting by her desk.

Her mood instantly shifted. She stopped a few paces away, not daring to go any closer.

“Why are you still working? Haven’t you eaten yet?” Lance stood up, sliding his phone into his pocket and moving toward her.

Nathalie stiffened, taking a step back. “Don’t come near me.”

Her eyes were wary, guarded, almost like she was bracing for a fight. The look she gave him felt like a knife straight to his heart.

He froze on the spot, gaze intense and unreadable. “Are you avoiding me, Nathalie?”

“Shouldn’t I?” She tensed, her voice on edge. “You don’t care what I think. You keep crossing lines, and honestly, I wish you’d just disappear and leave me alone.”

Lance let out a soft, humorless laugh. “That’s not going to happen.”

He came toward her again.

Nathalie’s scalp prickled. She quickly moved around her desk, keeping a barrier between them.

He wasn’t amused. For a second, it looked like he was considering flipping the desk over just to get to her.

“You can run in circles if you want, but you can’t get away from me forever,” Lance said, his steps slow but steady as he came closer. “Why even bother?”

Her palms were sticky with sweat. Her heart pounded so hard she thought he could probably hear it.

She had really received a message.

It was from Gavin.

They hadn’t spoken since Madonna sent him to another company, so his name popping up out of nowhere caught her off guard.

Gavin: Nathalie, how have you been lately?

A little weird, but she kept it polite.

Nathalie: I’m fine. You?

Gavin: I’ve been running into a lot of trouble recently. I can’t help but think Lance is behind it. Does he still believe something is going on between us?

Nathalie frowned as she read his message.
