The Unwavering Heart That Broke (Nathalie and Lance) novel Chapter 232

It was almost funny, really. Lance had to pull stunts just to see his own wife.

Nathalie just nodded. “Alright.”

Lance stared at her, his lips pressed together in a tight, unreadable line.

She frowned a little. “I said yes. What else do you want?”

“You’re lying to me again,” he said, suddenly getting up and walking toward her. “Are you just waiting for me to leave so you can block me on everything again?”

Nathalie’s breath caught. That was exactly what she’d planned. She didn’t expect him to call her out like that.

She stayed silent, but Lance’s lips quirked up without any warmth in his eyes. “You keep disappointing me, Nathalie.”

“Enough, Lance. What’s the point of dragging this out?” Nathalie lost all patience, her tone cold and laced with sarcasm. “Why pretend you’re the victim here? You hurt me first, or did you already forget? Now you can’t handle what I’m doing, but do you even know how much I hurt before?”

Lance looked at her, silent for a moment. Finally, he spoke. “I’m just doing what you wanted.”

“What I wanted?” She let out a cold laugh. “Don’t put that on me. No one’s forcing you and there’s no reason for you to act like this. Honestly, none of it matters anymore.”

It was just so ridiculous. He’d never been loyal. He’d lied to her over and over, and now he had the nerve to act like he was only doing what she asked. He didn’t even know what it meant to be a husband. The whole thing had been a mistake from the start.

Nathalie pointed at the door. “Get out. I don’t want to see you.”

Lance’s expression darkened. “No matter what I do, it’s never good enough for you, is it?”

“Exactly.” Nathalie lifted her chin and looked him straight in the eye.

“Fine,” Lance said quietly. “Then I don’t need to change anything. We’ll just live the way we always have.”

Nathalie looked at him like she couldn’t stand the sight. “Lance, you’re unbelievable.”

“I’ve always been like this. We’ve known each other for years. You should know me by now,” he replied, calm and even.

A deep, icy chill settled into Nathalie’s bones.

Her face went completely blank as he led her into the master bedroom. Lance started picking apart her room, tossing out critiques, but after a while he leaned in, brushing his lips against hers. “Let’s not waste time with distractions.”

Nathalie turned her face away. “I have my period,” she said, her voice flat.

Lance paused, then touched her lower stomach. It was cool to the touch.

He let out a sigh. “Looks like nothing took this time.”
