Nathalie’s voice was barely above a whisper when she said, “Freddy, I really need your help right now.”
Her words shook, heavy with fear, and Freddy immediately knew something had gone wrong.
“Hey, it’s okay,” he said, his tone gentle and steady. “Just take your time. Tell me what happened.”
Nathalie took a few shaky breaths before she could get the words out. At last, she explained how Adelaide had suddenly fallen ill.
Freddy listened quietly, then said, “Alright. Leave it to me. I’ll see what I can do.”
She clung to a sliver of hope. “Thank you, Freddy. I mean it. Please.”
At this point, Freddy was the only person she could think to call. He kept promising he’d repay her, and while she never truly believed him, what else could she do now? Her grandmother mattered more than anything.
After the emergency team managed to stabilize Adelaide, Nathalie fought back her tears and returned to the hospital room. Adelaide still hadn’t woken up. Nathalie sat by her side, squeezed her frail hand, and pressed her forehead into her grandmother’s palm.
She prayed quietly, her heart aching. Adelaide's hand was as dry and warm as ever, but it didn’t stroke her hair, didn’t offer that familiar, gentle smile. Nathalie blinked back the sting in her eyes, struggling to hold herself together.

Freddy wasted no time. He reached out to a top specialist and arranged a private jet to bring him in. Of course, the Charles family found out almost immediately.
They all assumed Freddy had flown in the specialist to treat his own paralyzed father. No one expected it was actually for the grandmother of a married woman.
Olivia was first to lose it. She sent people to intercept the doctor and bring him to their house.
Paulina looked shocked, clutching at her chest. “So you’re really just going to ignore me?”
“Let Wade come with me,” Freddy repeated.
Paulina swayed like she might pass out. “Freddy, if you take that doctor to Nathalie, I’ll throw myself at your feet. I swear I will!”
The Adams family already had enough scandals. Outsiders loved to gossip, but if their own family got dragged into another mess, they’d be the laughingstock.
There was no way in hell Paulina was letting that happen.
“Mom, are you okay?” Olivia rushed over, supporting Paulina and glaring at Freddy. “Dad’s been sick for so long, and Mom’s been keeping everything together. She’s not well either. We waited so long for you to come home, and now you just come back to break her heart? Don’t you have any conscience at all?”
