The Unwavering Heart That Broke (Nathalie and Lance) novel Chapter 271

A vein pulsed at Lance’s temple as his voice turned cold. “Do you ever stop talking?”

The other person laughed. “Oh? Are you actually mad? Well, that’s rare. Okay, I’ll stop messing with you. My people will get in touch with you once they arrive.”

“Alright.”

Lance was already reaching to end the call.

“Wait—one more thing.” The person spoke up again. “I found a little something about what you asked.”

Lance frowned. “Can’t you just say it all now? Quit dragging things out.”

A click of the tongue came from the other end. “Is that really how you ask for a favor? I’m warning you, if you don’t treat me better, I’m not telling you anything.” And with a huffy sound, the line went dead.

Lance stared at his phone, speechless for a moment. Some days, life just gave him a headache.

...

Adelaide brightened up the moment she saw Freddy. She’d liked him right away when they first met—there was just something easy and comforting about him.

Freddy and Adelaide spent a good while chatting.

Meanwhile, outside the room, Camilla tugged Nathalie aside and lowered her voice. “Nathalie, how do you know Freddy?” She sounded genuinely curious, even suspicious. And honestly, they looked close.

Nathalie answered, “We met at that banquet a while back.”

Camilla's eyes sparkled with interest. “Seems like you two get along. So, do you think you could talk to him? Maybe bring up the idea of working with The Blair Group?”

Nathalie couldn’t help but laugh. “Did you ever take my advice and pull the money you invested in Felice?”

Camilla frowned. “Nathalie, she’s your sister. Don’t be so petty.”

She smiled. “No, not at all. Come on, I’ll walk with you.”

Freddy nodded politely to Camilla, then headed out with Nathalie.

In the elevator, Freddy glanced at her. “So, how’s work? Still busy?”

She shrugged. “Just a couple more weeks and it’ll all be over.”

He grinned. “In that case, would you consider joining me? I’ve set up a new studio, and I’m looking for someone to run the show. If you’re interested, I’d love to have you take charge.”

Nathalie blinked in surprise. “Wait, are you offering me a job?”

Freddy pushed his glasses up and smiled softly. “I just noticed you haven’t been happy at your current job. I want you to have something that makes you feel good about your work. That’s all.”

For a second, Nathalie was caught off guard. She hadn’t expected anyone—let alone Freddy—to see her situation so clearly.
