The Unwavering Heart That Broke (Nathalie and Lance) novel Chapter 272

The elevator doors slid open, and the two of them stepped out together.

Nathalie glanced at Freddy. “I’ll think it over. Thanks, Freddy.”

Freddy shook his head. “You don’t need to thank me. I’ve always felt bad that I couldn’t help before. I just want to do what I can now.”

A little smile played on Nathalie’s lips. “Well, actually, there’s something you can do right this minute.”

“Just say it.”

“Could you give me a ride to the office? I need to get to work.”

Freddy smiled, his eyes soft. “Of course.”

Felice’s company was still new, but with investments from The Blair Group and The Adams Group, and Lance making introductions, things got rolling fast. They landed projects, and before long, everything was running pretty smoothly.

But out of nowhere, The Blair Group decided to pull their investment.

Felice had found out last night. After the call, she clutched her phone so hard her knuckles turned white, frustration and resentment flooding her chest.

Just great.

She hadn’t even gone after Nathalie, yet Nathalie was already making trouble for her.

Without hesitating, Felice booked a flight. The next morning, she packed up, scooped Jasper into her arms, and got ready to leave.

Jasper usually had a nanny at The Adams Estate looking after him. When the nanny saw Felice leaving with the child, she hurried off to find Madonna and reported everything right away.

Madonna’s face darkened as she listened. She immediately sent someone to stop Felice in her tracks.

They caught up with her at an intersection. The car halted suddenly, and Felice clung to Jasper, her eyes red and swollen, looking heartbreakingly vulnerable.

“Mom, please, just let me take Jasper and go,” Felice begged, voice already trembling with tears. “There’s no point in me staying here. I’ll take him abroad, and we’ll never come back. That way everyone can have some peace.”

Madonna pressed her lips together. “You’ve been living comfortably at The Adams Estate. Jasper has a nanny, you have everything you need. Why are you making such a scene?”

She knew one thing for sure. Jasper was Jackson’s son. She couldn’t let him be taken away.

But Jasper was so little. He needed his mother.

They were completely stuck.

Madonna didn’t want Felice and Lance tangled up any more than they already were, but she had no solution for this.

Half an hour later, Lance finally showed up.

He stepped out, his face set and cold. The warmth he usually carried was gone, replaced by a hard, steely edge. His gaze landed on Felice and stayed there.

“Felice, what are you doing?”

At the sight of Lance, Felice started crying even harder. But instead of completely breaking down, she bit her lip and forced herself to speak, voice shaking with both hurt and anger.

“Lance, what did I ever do to you and your wife? Why are you both treating me like this?”
