The Unwavering Heart That Broke (Nathalie and Lance) novel Chapter 273

Lance knit his brows. “What are you even talking about?”

Felice wiped her tears away, stubborn as ever. “You’re the one who said you’d pay me back. You helped me start that company. But as soon as Nathalie said no to investing, everyone followed her lead. I’ve been avoiding her just so she wouldn’t get the wrong idea, but why are you still treating me like this?”

Her voice shook as she accused him, and then she started crying all over again.

Jasper hugged her tight, his little arms trembling. “Mommy, please don’t cry. Don’t cry…”

Lance’s voice was calm but cold. “The Blair Group pulled out, but I’m not going anywhere. The company will keep running. There’s no need for all this drama.”

Felice gave him a bitter smile. “She convinced your parents to leave too. How much longer until you decide to give up on me? Lance, I don’t know why she keeps misunderstanding me, but I swear I only love Jackson. If I ever betrayed him, I’d deserve the worst.”

She sounded so wounded, listing every wrong done against her as if she’d been nothing but the victim.

After a deep breath, she said, “I’m not going to wait around until I get thrown out. I’ll take Jasper with me. Isn’t it enough if I just disappear from your lives?”

She turned to the driver. “Let’s go. Take us to the airport.”

But the driver hesitated, glancing at the car blocking their way. There was nowhere to go.

Suddenly, Lance came over.

Felice tensed up right away. “Lance, what are you doing?”

He opened the back door and scooped Jasper right out of her arms.

“Mommy, Mommy!” Jasper struggled, reaching desperately for Felice.

Holding Jasper tight, Lance’s voice turned ice-cold. “Jasper, stop crying.”

Jasper froze, looking up at Lance with fear in his eyes.

Lance fixed his gaze on Felice. “If you want to leave, then leave. But Jasper stays. He’s Jackson’s son, and he belongs with the Adams family.”

Then he walked away, carrying Jasper with him.

“No! He’s my son! Give him back!” Felice’s eyes went wide with disbelief.

Lance looked grim. Felice had just saved his life again. In a low voice, he explained everything about the company to Madonna.

After she listened, Madonna shook her head. “Nathalie shouldn’t have done that. She’s way too controlling. That was her parents’ decision, not hers. How could she interfere like that?”

She might not have liked Felice, but starting a company didn’t seem worth making such a fuss over.

To her, Nathalie was just being petty.

Lance stayed silent.

Handing Jasper over, Madonna said, “I’m going to talk to Nathalie. She needs to leave this alone.”

She turned to go.

“Mom.” Lance looked troubled. “Please, don’t stir things up even more right now.”

But Madonna insisted. “If Felice hadn’t pushed you, you both could have been hit. What if something happened to Jasper? He’s Jackson’s only child. I have to talk to Nathalie and make sure she stops coming after Felice.”
