The Unwavering Heart That Broke (Nathalie and Lance) novel Chapter 280

Gavin’s skin tingled, heat crawling through his body as a frown knit between his brows. He knew he hadn’t put anything in his own drink.

But after a moment of confusion, he shrugged it off. Whatever. If there were drugs involved, it’d just make things a little wilder.

He mumbled to himself while stripping down, completely undressed in no time. Leaning in, he reached for Nathalie, ready to undress her too.

But suddenly, Nathalie’s eyes snapped open.

“So this is your revenge,” she said. Her voice was steady, her gaze sharp and clear. There was no sign that she’d been drugged at all.

Gavin stopped cold, staring at her, his eyes wide with disbelief. “How are you okay?”

Slowly, Nathalie sat up, looking at him with icy detachment. “The pain in your life didn’t come from me, but you still took it out on me. I can’t tell you how disappointed I am.”

Gavin’s control cracked, his voice rising. “Of course it’s you! Everything was fine until you showed up. My life was good before all this!”

Nathalie’s reply was cool. “Did you never wonder why you were being targeted? This happened at more than one company. Did you ever stop to think someone might be setting you up?”

As her words hung in the air, the door to the lounge burst open.

Someone was tossed inside, and a huge, rugged-looking guy followed, filling the doorway.

He took a quick look around, spotted Nathalie, and grinned. “You must be Ms. Nathalie Blair, right?”

Nathalie nodded. “That’s me. And you are?”

“Nicol,” he said, thumping his chest with a prideful smile. “Weston said I’m in charge of your safety now. You can trust me. As long as I’m around, no one’s touching you.”

A real smile bloomed on Nathalie’s face as she nodded. “Nicol. Good. I’ll remember.”

Her eyes traveled to the person crumpled on the floor.

Nathalie let out a short, cold laugh, eyes sharp. “It doesn’t really matter anymore, does it? I already know everything.”

She turned to Nicol. “Take the rope off her legs.”

“Sure thing.”

Nicol crouched down, untying the ropes around Susan’s legs, leaving her arms still bound. She couldn’t go anywhere.

Nathalie stood, brushing off her skirt. “Let’s go.”

“Yes, ma’am,” Nicol said quickly.

As they started to leave the room, Susan’s desperate voice rang out behind them. “No, wait, you can’t just leave me! Nathalie, don’t go, I worked for Leda, you can’t do this! Nathalie, come back!”
