The Unwavering Heart That Broke (Nathalie and Lance) novel Chapter 281

When Lance finally showed up at the restaurant, he spotted Nathalie sitting by herself at a table, casually picking at her food.

The edge in his expression softened right away. He walked over and slid into the seat next to her. “Weren’t you supposed to meet someone?”

Nathalie shot him a quick look. “How did you know about that?”

“I looked into Gavin,” Lance said, settling in. “Something isn’t right with him. He’s been spending a lot of time with people from the Adams Estate.”

Nathalie took a calm sip of her soup. When she finished eating, she set her chopsticks down and met his eyes, looking perfectly composed.

“Your grandmother got Susan to team up with Gavin,” she said quietly. “They tried to drug me. Ruin my reputation.” Her voice barely wavered. “So, what are you going to do about it, Lance?”

Lance’s face grew stormy in a heartbeat. He scanned her up and down. “Are you alright?”

“I’m fine,” Nathalie replied, steady as ever. “They didn’t get to me.”

Something darker flickered in Lance’s eyes. His voice took on a cold edge. “I’ll make sure you get justice.”

Nathalie just breathed out softly. “I already have a pretty good idea what Leda is up to. She wants us to split, Lance. If we don’t divorce, she’ll keep coming after me, finding new ways to make my life hell. Are you really going to be around all the time to protect me?”

She gave him a half-smile. “Trying to keep two women safe at once. That’s a lot on your plate, isn’t it?”

Lance’s jaw tightened, his expression turning even grimmer. “Nathalie, I won’t let her hurt you again.”

“The things people are capable of… it’s scary,” Nathalie said, her voice almost gentle. “If you truly want what’s best for me, just let me go. Divorce me. If we’re not together, the Adams family won’t have any reason to target me.”

Lance pressed his lips together, clearly torn. Then he reached out and took her hand, his grip tense. His voice was rough around the edges. “Nathalie…”

Nathalie arched an eyebrow, a flicker of curiosity passing through her eyes. That was his grandmother they’d be facing. This was going to be interesting.

“Sure,” she agreed without hesitation.

Lance called in two men, had them separate Gavin and Susan, then had Susan tied up again and tossed into the car. They drove straight to the Adams Estate.

The mansion was lit up from top to bottom.

Susan, still looking frazzled and miserable, was dumped in front of Leda. She immediately started wailing, tears and snot streaming down her face.

“Leda, you have to help me! Nathalie went way too far! I don’t even know what happened… she set some man on me, humiliated me! Leda, I can’t live like this, I just can’t!”

Leda’s face froze. She turned to Nathalie, her eyes blazing. “You troublemaker! How could you do something so cruel? You’re vicious!”
