Leda looked pale, her voice strained as the bodyguards stepped right in front of her. They didn’t give her a chance to run, dragging her toward the waiting car. She kicked and cried, but none of it mattered.
Regret hit her out of nowhere. If she hadn’t agreed to Lance and Nathalie’s marriage back then, the Adams family wouldn’t have ended up in this mess. All of it... she blamed Nathalie for everything.
Leda was shoved into the car and sent away overseas. No one asked her opinion.
Not long after, Madonna called Lance. Her voice was heavy. “Lance, don’t you think you’re being a little harsh with your grandmother?”
Lance sounded cold. “Maybe she should think about why she treated Nathalie that way, going behind everyone’s back and pulling those cheap tricks.”
Madonna let out a slow breath, frowning. “But Nathalie’s fine now...”
“Mom, just stop,” Lance cut her off, even colder. “Trust me, you don’t want to end up like my grandma.”
There was nothing Madonna could say to that.
She stayed quiet for a while, just thinking, then she suddenly asked, “You can be this heartless with your own grandmother, so why can’t you do the same with Felice? Lance, just be honest with me. Do you actually have feelings for her?”
“She saved my life,” Lance said, sounding tired. “If it weren’t for her, I would’ve died in that earthquake.”
Madonna didn’t say another word. The call ended there.

Nathalie kept busy until noon. When she finally left the recording studio, she spotted Aaron waiting by the hallway, smiling at her.
She stopped, not really in the mood for small talk. “Do you need something?”
Aaron smiled politely. “Lance wanted to invite you to lunch. He also wants to talk about The Adams Estate.”
Nathalie set her script down on her desk. “Did Leda get sent away?”
“I wanted to ask when the court date is. Don’t get the wrong idea,” she hurried to explain.
Fabian laughed. “You almost gave me a heart attack. For a minute, I thought you’d fallen for me.” He tried to joke it off. “Not that I’d mind, honestly. I’m just as good as Lance.”
Nathalie rolled with it. “Sure. If I ever get divorced, maybe I’ll think about it.”
Fabian choked on a laugh, not expecting that. He coughed, clearly flustered and, all at once, changed the topic. “Anyway… that’s not what I called for. I was going to tell you the court date’s in three days.”
Nathalie’s eyes lit up, and she smiled for real this time. “Seriously? That’s great. I owe you big time.”
Fabian tried to sound stern. “Hold up. Save the thanks for when we actually win.”
Nathalie grinned. “Deal. We’ll celebrate after the verdict.”
She was in a good mood now. There was only a week left at the studio. After that, she could spend time with her grandmother and finally start focusing on her own career.
