The Unwavering Heart That Broke (Nathalie and Lance) novel Chapter 315

Chapter 315

Without all of that weighing her down, Nathalie felt unexpectedly light. She didn’t have to deal with the sting of Daniel and Camilla picking favorites anymore or lose sleep over Lance and his constant

backandforth. No more questioning her own worth or feeling stuck in the middle. This time, she was determined to put herself first and love

herself better.

She let out a long breath and started toward the hospital. In just a couple of weeks, Adelaide would be ready to leave and recover at home. By then, Nathalie’s work would be wrapped up, and she could focus all her energy on looking after Adelaide for as long as it was needed.

Work wasn’t even on the table right now. The attack still hadn’t been resolved, and the divorce seemed stuck in limbo too. She really didn’t want to start anything new and then have her life thrown off course by more drama or problems. It just made sense to sort everything out before jumping back into her career.

She pushed open the hospital room door and was a little surprised to see Madonna sitting by Adelaide’s bed. Nathalie’s eyebrows drew together in

a small frown.

Madonna, what brings you here?

Her tone sounded different, colder than before. Madonna seemed caught off guard for a second but quickly slid back into a smile. I haven’t visited your grandma this whole time she’s been in the hospital. I thought she’d probably be feeling better by now, so I wanted to check in. You’ve been busy lately, right?

Yeah, pretty busy,Nathalie replied, her eyes cool and cautious.

Lately, she was wary of anyone who seemed even a little too intent on being close to her or Adelaide.

Madonna gave a little nod. You’re just in time, actually. There’s

something I’d like to talk to you about.”

She turned toward Adelaide and put on a gentle smile. I won’t interrupt your rest. I’ll just borrow Nathalie for a few minutes.

Adelaide lifted her hand in a casual wave. Go ahead.

They stepped out of the room and headed to the quiet stairwell. Nathalie couldn’t help asking, So what’s this about?

Madonna’s face looked complicated, almost troubled. She gazed at Nathalie for what felt like ages, silent and pensive, then suddenly spoke.

You really don’t love Lance anymore, do you?

Nathalie nodded. No, I don’t.

Madonna seemed to let that settle, nodding slowly. I’ve been thinking about it for a while. Honestly, compared to all the risks around you, Felice just seemssafer. And, well, Lance really likes Jasper. So I’d like your help. I want to make it possible for them to be together.

Nathalie froze for a second, her mind reeling. She never thought Madonna would change her mind like this. Madonna used to hate Felice, didn’t she? The thought was strange, but Nathalie didn’t overthink it. She just smiled, a little surprised, and said softly, Honestly, they should have been together ages ago.

You think so too? That’s such a relief.Madonna smiled for real now, a sense of ease suddenly obvious on her face. I’m going to need your help. If they get together, your divorce will go so much more smoothly.

What do you need me to do?Nathalie asked.
