“Not bad at all.”
Fabian’s praise was genuine. “Felice isn’t your problem anymore, right?
Looks like all that’s left is the divorce?”
Nathalie nodded. “Yeah. Once that’s done, I’ll finally be free.”
Fabian’s eyes turned thoughtful, and his smile grew a little deeper. “I’ll help you get there.”
Nathalie returned the smile, her lips curving gently.
Right then, her phone vibrated. She glanced down to see a message from Nicol. Another alert flashed across her screen, this one from an
unfamiliar number.
Nicol: [Ms. Blair, I’ve found some leads about Felice’s parents. Can we talk in person?]
Unknown: [Be careful with Fabian. He’s not as simple as he seems.]
Nathalie deleted the warning without hesitation, then replied to Nicol with a short “Okay.”
She looked at Fabian. “Something came up, so I have to go.”
“Alright. I’m heading out too.”
Fabian nodded coolly.
They stepped out of the hospital’s back garden. Fabian got into his car and drove away. Nathalie pulled out her phone and called Nicol.
It turned out Nicol was already in his car nearby. Nathalie walked over, climbed into the passenger seat, and closed the door behind her.
Nicol handed her a folder. “Here, Ms. Blair. Take a look.”
As she opened it, Nicol slipped out of the car to smoke and casually

checked the area to make sure no one was snooping.
Nathalie flipped through the file, scanning it quickly.
Felice’s mother was named Jeniffer. Her father was Nash.
Inside, there was a photo of Jeniffer and Camilla together. Both girls looked young and carefree, laughing straight at the camera. They looked pretty tight.
Jeniffer grew up in Harrisburg. She and Nash had known each other forever, childhood friends who went to school together every step of the way. They started dating in college, then eventually moved overseas.
The info was basic, almost disappointingly so. Other than the photo proving Jeniffer and Camilla were close, there was barely anything else.
Nathalie looked over the file a couple more times, her brows furrowing.
Were they really just friends?
Winnie George…
Jeniffer George…
Why would Felice’s mom have her grandmother’s last name?
Nathalie’s eyes widened as a crazy thought hit her.
No way. Was Jeniffer actually her grandfather’s child?
Did her grandfather cheat on his wife?
That would explain why Camilla knew Jeniffer’s mom so early and why they stayed so close. That kind of connection couldn’t be an accident.
Maybe Jeniffer’s mom pulled Camilla in on purpose, made her trust her completely.
