Madonna had already slipped inside the villa.
Now, only the two of them were left in the courtyard.
Lance’s face, sharp and handsome, gave nothing away. He met Nathalie’s challenge with a calm question. “How much do you know?”
Nathalie let out a quick, sarcastic laugh. “Seriously? After all this you’re still trying to test me? You bribed the people in Hillcrest Village. For Felice, you really would do anything, wouldn’t you?”
Her eyes flashed with ridicule. “Lance, I’ve told you before. If you care about her, if she means that much to you, then let’s just get a divorce. I’ll let you guys be together. You wouldn’t have to keep hiding the truth like this.”
Lance’s eyebrows drew together. “She’s my sister–in–law. You said it yourself.”
better?”
He fixed his dark eyes on her, his voice turning colder. “Jackson and Felice always had a good relationship. Jackson was good to you, too. But here you are, accusing his wife. Does that make

“Nathalie.” Lance’s voice grew even colder, low and sharp. “I’m telling you, there’s nothing between me and Felice.”

A bitter half–smile tugged at her lips.
She didn’t dare dwell on the past. If she did, the only thing she would find was that she had been the fool in someone else’s story.
But now, at least, her heart was cold and tough. She wouldn’t let him lie to her again.
If he was so hopelessly in love with Felice, fine. She’d even help him out. Jackson was gone, Jasper already called him dad, and Felice acted like she depended on him for everything.
Maybe the three of them should have been a family from the start.
She could make that happen.
Nathalie turned around and headed back inside the villa.
Frustration twisted in Lance’s chest. He stared at her slim, straight figure walking away, a storm brewing in his eyes.
She only knew a piece of what had happened during the earthquake, yet this was how she reacted. If she ever found out the whole story, what would she think then? Would she hate him even more? Would she regret everything?
Lance’s face darkened as he pulled out his phone and dialed Nicol.
Three rings before Nicol finally picked up.
“What do you want?” Nicol’s tone was sharp and annoyed, clearly not
