Aaron took a breath and spoke up, “Lance, I know you weren’t in the best mood. I just thought maybe seeing Nathalie would help, you know…”
Lance gave him a look, the kind that was somewhere between a smirk and a warning. “You’re really getting good at your job. What, you think you can read my mind now?”
Aaron suddenly felt a chill, even though the room wasn’t cold at all. He rushed to apologize. “I get it. My bad.”
“I don’t feel anything when I see her,” Lance said, his voice flat and distant. “If she comes looking for me, just tell her I’m busy.”
Aaron nodded. “Alright.”
“Start making arrangements for my business trip,” Lance added.
“Understood.”
Nathalie sat in her car for a while, trying to make sense of how she felt. Lance had looked at her like she was a stranger. Everything he’d said was true. There really was nothing left between them.
And honestly, that should’ve made her relieved.
But what bugged her most was having to wait until his trip was over before they could get the divorce paperwork done. The whole thing was just exhausting.
She took a few deep breaths to calm down before pulling herself together and heading to the hospital.
When she walked into the hospital room, she was surprised to see Freddy was already there.
“Wow, talk about timing,” Freddy said with a grin. “You walk in right after me. Maybe we’re just meant to bump into each other.”
Nathalie laughed softly. “Maybe. Are you done with everything you had to do today?”
“Yeah,” Freddy said, nodding. “So I figured I’d drop by and check on her.” Sophia was lying quietly on the bed, her gaze a little nervous as she looked at both of them. Nathalie walked over and spoke gently. “I’m Nathalie. I was the one driving the car that hit you. You don’t need to stress about anything right now. Just focus on getting better. I’ll take care of things with your mom.”
Sophia tried to sit up, gratitude all over her face. “Ms. Blair, thank you, really. I don’t know what I’d do without you.”

Chapter 343
Nathalie smiled, reassuring but direct. “Just get well soon. And don’t forget you promise pay me back:”
Freddy, who’d been listening from the side, looked confused. “Pay you back for what?”
Nathalie gave him the short version of what had happened. Freddy listened, then let out low chuckle. “Honestly, that’s a smart move.”
He looked at Sophia. “You better not let her down, you know.”
Sophia nodded seriously. “I won’t. I can handle any job, really. I promise I’ll pay you back
interest.”
For a second, her gaze bounced between Freddy and Nathalie. She hesitated, then blurte out, “Are you two… together or something?”
Freddy’s grin grew wider. “Do we look like a couple?”
Sophia nodded shyly. “You guys just seem to get along really well. It feels natural.”
Freddy glanced at Nathalie as if waiting for her reaction, his eyes full of mischief.
But Nathalie just said evenly, “I’m married.”
Sophia looked surprised and instantly embarrassed. She bit her lip, avoiding Nathalie’s eye “Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t know.”
