Chapter 344
Sophia nodded. “Alright, Ms. Blair
Freddy stood up. “Great, let’s head out together.”
“Okay”
They left the hospital side by side. The streets were bustling as the last golden light of the day stretched across the city.
Freddy glanced at her, reading her mood. “Didn’t go as planned, huh?”
“No.” Nathalie’s answer was quiet and heavy. This whole mess felt like it would never end.
“Did Lance change his mind again?”
“I have no idea.” Nathalie let out a long sigh. “But I’m not dropping the lawsuit until the divorce goes through. One way or another, I need this to happen.”
Freddy nodded along. “You’re really determined. Since you’re in such a rough mood, how about I take you out for dinner?”
He checked his watch. “Someone told me about this cozy little tavern. Supposedly the food is amazing.”
Nathalie’s face brightened. “Sounds good.”
Honestly, she could use a drink or two tonight. Otherwise, she wasn’t sure how she’d shake off the heaviness pressing down on her heart.
“Just hop in my car,” Freddy said. “That way, we can go home together later.”
She thought about it. If she was going to drink, driving wasn’t an option. She agreed, feeling a little lighter already.
“Alright.”
By the time they got to the tavern, the city was wrapped in darkness. Warm lights glowed at the door, and a gentle scent of wine drifted out as soon as they walked in.
“Freddy, welcome!” The owner smiled and waved them over
The Western–style bar was just off to the side, the owner working the grill in an apron, flipping steaks with practiced ease.
Freddy found them a table, pulled out a chair for her, and smiled. “Want to try the house special?”
“Sure,” Nathalie said, settling in.
Freddy went to place their order, and when he came back, he was holding two bottles of

wine.
“The owner let us have these from his private stash. He said they’ve been aging for over a decade. Supposed to be great.”
Nathalie eyed the dark glass. “If they were part of his private collection, why give them to
you?”
Freddy grinned, lifting a brow. “Maybe he’s just shocked I finally brought a woman here?”
Nathalie chuckled and shook her head. “Alright. I’ll make sure I enjoy it.”
Freddy poured her a glass. The wine caught the golden light and sparkled.
Nathalie took a sip. It wasn’t overly strong, just soft and sweet with a flavor she loved.
“You like it?” Freddy watched her reaction, his smile gentle.
