Nathalie hadn’t even made it home when her phone rang again. This time, t was Sophia.

‘Hey, Sophia.”

Sophia choked out between panicked sobs, “Ms. Blair… save me. Please,

save me…“.

Nathalie slammed on the brakes, her brows knitting together in alarm. ‘What’s going on? What happened?”

‘I came out for a job interview, but I don’t know where I am,” Sophia cried hysterically. “The person interviewing me never showed up. I’m so scared. I don’t have any friends, you were the only one I could think of, Ms. Blair… Can you come save me?”

‘Have you tried walking outside?” Nathalie asked.

“All the doors are locked. I can’t get out…” Sophia cried out in a sheer panic. “The main gate is locked too. I… I’ll text you my location.”

She hung up, but Nathalie waited and waited, and the message never

came.

A heavy pit formed in Nathalie’s stomach.

Just then, Freddy’s name lit up her screen.

“Freddy.”

Nathalie answered frantically, getting straight to the point. “Something happened to Sophia.”

“She called me earlier, too,” Freddy said. “But I was in a meeting and missed it. She sent me a message saying she’d been locked in somewhere. I figured she might try reaching out to you. What did she say?”

Nathalie quickly recounted their brief conversation, then asked, “Can you tell where she is from the photo she sent?”

‘It was just a text message, so I can’t track the location metadata,” Freddy explained. “But I’ve already got people analyzing the background of the photo. They should be able to pinpoint it.”

That was going to take too long.

‘I’ll have my people look into it, too,” Nathalie said. “We need to find her as fast as possible.”

‘Alright.”

Sophia had reached out to her. If anything terrible happened, Nathalie could easily become a prime suspect.

So, to avoid getting dragged into a nightmare, she needed to find Sophia, fast.

She quickly texted Nicol, filling him in on the situation.

Nicol agreed immediately, then replied, “Ms. Blair, head straight home and stay there. Wait for my update.”

“Okay.”

She restarted the car and headed toward The Observatory. But at the next

Nathalie had no choice but to turn around and take a detour. It was a onger route, but as she drove, she noticed several cars tailing her. The vehicles beside her matched her speed perfectly, while the one in front cept just enough distance to prevent her from passing.

She was boxed in, forced to keep driving in whatever direction they corralled her.
