Chapter 384
“Ms. Blair! I couldn’t get through to you! I just found out what happened–are you hurt?!” Nicol’s voice was frantic.
The second he stepped away, all hell had broken loose. Someone had definitely been watching them from the shadows!
Nathalie squeezed her eyes shut. “I’m at the hospital. I’m fine. But Lance s badly hurt, and so are his two bodyguards. I need you to handle their situation.”
‘I’ve already arranged for his men to be brought in,” Nicol replied instantly. ‘I’m heading to your location right now.”
‘Okay,” Nathalie whispered.
She gave him the address of the hospital and ended the call.
Soaked to the bone, the icy chill of the AC seeped into her skin, making ner shiver violently. The sharp, clinical scent of antiseptic assaulted her senses. She looked down and saw her hands were coated in dried blood. She stumbled into the nearest restroom and turned on the sink, scrubbing
her skin raw under the running water.
She was terrified. So terrified she couldn’t stop the tremors wracking her
body.
She had brushed with death too many times now.
Someone wanted her dead.
And they were going to stop at nothing to get it done.
Gripping the edge of the porcelain sink, Nathalie fought desperately to push down the suffocating wave of despair.
“Ms. Blair? Ms. Blair!” Nicol’s panicked voice echoed from the hallway.

Nathalie walked out, looking pale as a ghost. “I’m here.”
Nicol let out a massive sigh of relief, his eyes darting over her. “Are you absolutely sure you’re not hurt? Do you need a doctor to check you over?” Nathalie shook her head. “No, I’m fine.”
A bitter, exhausted smile touched her lips. “If it weren’t for Lance… I’d be dead.”
Nicol’s expression turned complicated. “Well… I suppose he’s decent
when it counts.”
Nathalie just looked at him. That was certainly one way to put it.
The two of them walked back to the ER doors. “What’s the situation with
Sophia?” Nathalie asked.
‘They found her. Freddy sent his guys to pull her out. She’s completely fine,” Nicol reported.
Nathalie frowned. “Then what was all that about?”
‘They were just messing with her,” Nicol explained. “Saw she was a nobody with no backing and decided to torture her for fun.” He paused, his expression darkening. “But honestly? I think it was a distraction. They wanted to draw your protection away from you, so that…”
He didn’t need to finish. Nathalie already knew exactly what he meant.
If Lance hadn’t chased after her, she couldn’t even imagine what her fate would have been. Locking herself in the car wouldn’t have saved her. With that many men, they would have shattered the glass and slaughtered her inside.
A violent chill raced down her spine, draining whatever color was left in her face.
“By the time I got to the scene, the guys were gone,” Nicol continued primly. “They left the cars behind, but the plates are all fake. They

managed to avoid every traffic camera, and they used signal jammers. This was a highly professional hit.”
Nathalie lowered her gaze. “I’m pretty sure the President doesn’t even get targeted this aggressively.”
Nicol was deeply worried. “Altair is supposed to be incredibly safe, yet this still happened. Ms. Blair, you absolutely cannot travel abroad right now. The second you step out of the country, they’ll strike.”
‘I know. I won’t,” she agreed softly.
Her phone rang again. It was Freddy.
‘Nathalie, Sophia is safe.”
‘I heard. Thank you for handling that, Freddy,” Nathalie said, forcing a weary smile.
You don’t need to thank me,” Freddy replied smoothly. “She reached out o me for help too; it was the least I could do.”
